Anyone know where I can find a clear tail light assembly?

Currently in the process of beautifying my '00 since we just got another dump of snow after a week of warm weather and will be at least a month out from riding again. Once I paint match my Beetles, I'll be looking at swapping out the tail light assembly because I've seen clear ones but can't seem to find a vendor that has one in stock. Is that one of those unobtanium parts that are gone forever unless I can find a used piece?

 

I have a 1999 that could use a paint job on the Beetle Bags, I will be interested to see how well you can match the bikes paint. Are you
going to tackle it yourself or have a paint shop do the work

 

Job will be DIY if it ends up happening. Just waiting on my Givi top rack and I'll be using one of my old Monokey cases as well which has that almost chalkboard colour to it so nothing matches. Currently debating just matching those all in black and leaving it.

I have similar damage to mine. Not super experienced with plastic repair like this but I've done metal before, so I'll see what happens.

 

I'm really surprised Thurn doesn't make any clear lenses for that model.

 

I've only seen a handful of websites that advertise them and they're all in various eastern European languages (was referencing more Russian and other languages that don't utilize what I'd consider "traditional" North American letters) and out of stock. I can find the front lenses no problem but the rear section seems pretty much nonexistent now.
