I just bought my 1986 Interceptor 700 last year. I need a new rear tire...the one I have seems small. It's a 140/70/18. Can anyone help me with:

    A) Where to get new tires at an affordable price?
    B) Is this the only size that can safely go on this tire?

Thanks for any help you all can offer!!

Sem, I purchased Pirelli Sport Demons this season. Have total confidence in them, even in the rain. They ride smooth. I put 5.5K on them and they still have plenty of life left.

    HEYMIKE,

I know that Pirelli tyres are excellent, however i recommended Dunlop GT501 because they are made right HERE in Buffalo by American workers and because Dunlops have always been very good rain tyres.

    isn't that important??

The correct size for an '86 VFR rear tire is 130 -80-18 bias ply only.

    Yep. Correct size for the 86-87 Honda VFR750/700F/F2 is 130/80-18 V rear and a 110/90-16 V front.
You can go to a 140/70-18 V rear and be safe. Have tried it and works ok. Even a 150/70-18 is a posible tire for the stock 3,5 rim, but havent tried it even I read it works but do rub the chain cover a bit.
But niler45 seems to have a VF700f Not a VFR700F, as I have a 160/60R18 rear on a 5,0 rim and no clarens problems whit the swing!

For the front I suggest ceeping the stock size, A 120/80-16V front fits the stock rim , but it slow the steering. I have tried one and didnt like it.
