I had an incident recently where my chain broke while riding and it broke my front sprocket cover. I have a replacement for the plastic but I just noticed that the metal it attaches to is cracked at the top only. Any suggestions for a fix?

Hey, isn't that another sub cover that can be replaced?

    It is.

But, you could probably remove that broken piece, clean the area really good, apply some good epoxy to both sides (of the crack only, not against the main crankcase) and re-assemble and tighten to hold and press everything in the right spot.

It is dowel located on the other side of the broken piece into the crankcase as well. So it will probably be just fine. The inner dowel is probably the only thing holding it in place right now.

Or just move it back and re-assemble.

    You got lucky.

Also... a broken chain these days is pretty rare. WTF?

I appreciate the feedback. I looked again and it does come off so Ill try to find the part online. If not, Ill test out the epoxy route.

Chains breaking is not rare if you know how to maintain a bike. This was an expensive lesson learned lol

Got it. You're gonna be fine either route.

That little chunk is not critical. If it is put in place (one way or another) and the cover is installed, you'll be fine.

Find the replacement (and gasket) so you have it.
