Per the title, is there even a market for a '97? Appears I am going to have to sell mine and wondering if I will have to give it away. Only has 40k miles on it, runs great with the Stage 1 carb kit in it. More Sport than Touring though; slight drop in fuel mileage but no more hesitation and can even accelerate in 6th gear now.

Just looking for thoughts, comments, etc.

    Thanks

Plenty of interest. I'd start on this forum and VFRdiscussion with a thorough ad with plenty of pics.

There is a market for nearly everything, but location will likely greatly affect the price on that bike. In Arizona, I think the price will be pretty low. And even then, you're gonna be hoping for the right person to come along. But there are people like me that specifically sought that bike out.

Well.....I will put an ad on here and VFRD (if I can get my password reset) with plenty of pictures and description.
I know I was after a 4th Gen only when I purchased this one seven+ years ago, I wanted carbs and GDCs and no VTEC. I had to go to Phoenix to get this one; perhaps I will be able to pull a buyer out of Phoenix.....I can hope.
I know I will not sell it to someone that wants to turn it into a naked bike.

Thanks for the two comments.....look for my ad to appear in the next few days or so.

i dont understand how [maybe age ?] these gen 4 bikes are usually selling so cheap ......except for the few cherry ones of course.

i bought my '97 gently wrecked from a salvage yard i was visiting just as it was trailered in fresh from a weekly insurance auction. got it at a discount cuz the junk yard didnt have to fuss with it. i was in the place poking around for special honda screws off the wrecks and ended up buying my dream bike, having owned '86 VFRs since 1990 and eager for the improved version.

compared to commonly inflated CL prices for very average bikes, i believe a rideable gen4 with all the bodywork is worth between $ 2600-3400, fairly priced.

    [just one opinion]

I agree with SM price range. But I would have paid up to 4000+ for the right one in my area. Looked at a "showroom" example for $3800 and laughed out loud when I was walking up to it.

This is my favorite version of these awesome machines .
I'd buy another one if I had to... oh ya I did!!
my original 96 was backed over at my work parking lot.
My insurance got me a nicely modified Super Hawk that I rode for a few years, but that tiny gas tank just drove me nuts! LoL
When I found this 96 with Ohlins front and back and a full Ti Akroprovic for $3900 I snapped it up!!

    Thanks Captain!
I suspect that only a few will know who DMR is and even less will care after I explain.
    Oh well....such is life.

    The hard cases are Givi.
As far as modification to get them to fit....??? I do not remember any....perhaps I had to cut the black plastic piece under the rear fender in order to get the bar to bolt up. I would have to take a look to be sure and the VFR is not where I am.
I know I had to cut the plastic piece to get the high mount bar for the Delkivc can to fit, so I may not have had to do anything else. It has been several years since I did that.
I purchased the hard cases used from an individual that wrecked his '96 VFR which is why one of the cases is scratched-up. I sanded-down the scratches, applied some Mother's Back to Black which hid the scratches pretty good.
I had a top rack that came with the VFR, but I sold it. Sure wish I could undo that.

Does anybody know if the newer VFR side cases can be made to fit our models? I see them for sale every now and again but thought they wouldn't fit so I never bought
