So yesterday I was looking at tires at Cycle Gear in my home town and didn't realize it was bike night. Since I was early I got decent parking and watched the bikes filter in. We are a small town, so anything more than 20 is good. We had about 60 total. Not bad considering it was only 58* out. Here is Captain America up front on it's 1st officially noted test ride. Got a lot of questions (WTF is that sound?) and am now dubbed the "V4 guy". hahaha I was hesitant to mention how many V4s I have. I also competed in a slow race. I lost in the second round but seeing as how I have only ridden the bike twice I didn't feel too bad. First bike gathering for me in over 10 years. Bikenight 1.jpg

It looks great. Plenty of ride height dialed into that Fox shock. Could probably slide the forks up a bit if you wanted, not sure how the side stand length is coping. I know the geometry on these bikes can take quite some altering without getting weird. I've got my RC26 up in back quite a bit and short CBR-F2 forks in front with zero hints of protest or weirdness.

Glad you had a good night.

This bike is soo flingy. I can only imagine what new tires will do. The rims must be helping a little. I need to do a back to back with Big Red. One must go, unfortunately. I was contemplating swapping some stuff and then selling one of them. Only time will tell. They are last on my list of bench riding. Hawk is on and ready for some rework before sale.
Not sure what to do with the rear shock. OE and crappy looking. I am upside down on the hawk so I hate to spend more...but..

Oh and I agree with bringing the forks up a bit. They are a little long for my style. Great for around town, but I am getting pulled off the bike due to chest wind. A little more forward should help and look better. :) I like the sound of 20mm.

RWB screams race bike (literally). Big Red is more of a Gentleman's GT. They both have some very desirable attributes.

I wouldn't bother on a shock for the NT. The next person is likely gonna make it "theirs", let them spend the money on what they want. A stock shock is not gonna affect the value of a Hawk in any substantial way. If it's leaking fuel or something like that, fix it. Other than that... ?

^^ Glad I am on the same page on the shock. Left to do:
    Clean up old shock
Mount Eric's Alum break arm since it only fits that bike (?).
Respray tail section. Had a garage moment that screwed up the paint. Could be done by Sunday and ready to ship out.

    Thanks boys!

Possibly. Let me check my stash make sure I have all of the parts. Pretty sure it doesn't fit any other bike. I will try and photo tonight.

Test ride question. It feels like some kind of driveline "clunkiness" on my test ride. With forward drive everything is smooth. While engine braking, everything is smooth. The in between city throttle, I can feel a nasty " in the rear sets" clunk.

I thought it might be engine mounts or swing arm, but now I am wondering if the rear wheel cush drives would produce that feeling? Maybe they are original and beat. It did look like this bike had seen the track.

You gotta take that rear wheel off and inspect what's going on. You never know what's been done, especially with custom wheels on a track bike.

You should be able to get some kind of feedback if you are on the right track by putting it on a swingarm stand and feeling the play

Noticed you don't have one picture of the left side of this bike. I wonder if it even has any kind of damper system for the sprocket mount. You might be feeling just the chain wear.

True. I will try and get into it this weekend. I feel like the chain is good, no apparent kinks. Just some clunk going on that does not feel internal, but more metal to metal lash. I will verify chain tension as well, but it did look appropriate when I first went through the bike for it's initial ride. Thanks dude!

    Time to update.

I completed back to back on the 750's. The RWB may look the shit, but my rebuilt Big Red feels like a new bike...like really off the show room. Tight, more power, softer ride even with the built f2 forks and Penske. Brakes are WAY better..way...way.. Big Red will not have quite the ROI since she was totally upgraded, so I think Capt America must go.

I spent the last weekend and probably most of this coming weekend cleaning and prepping for sale. I love polished wheels, but honestly I still like the look of the spoked f2 wheels more.
I just love the sound and feel of Big Red. That Tyga exhaust is the bomb!!

Capt America sounds like a mini V8, but Big Red puts every other bike I own (including 1100 Tuono) to shame. She is mean and the carbs are magnificent. Throttle blips, idle...all of it is race ready even though she will never see a track day.
For me the real hang up on Big Red is RED... I think down the road I may try some RC45 bodywork in a mixed color.

On that note I will need a couple questions answered.

#1 RWB has a oil pressure gauge present, but not mounted. Can I use the bolt just above the side case on the right side for a thread in sensor?

#2 There are no turn signals on this bike. The wiring thank goodness is all there. Will those diamond shaped LED signals (VF500 post elsewhere) work or should I just go with OE-ish?

I am glad I bothered, I figured this would never happen again in my lifetime. I present my Honda Ranch. I have already sold one from the ranch (500). Next is RWB 750. These sales are for two reasons.
I cannot afford to keep them all regged in Cali.
I need money to pay for the 250 which will never leave my family. She will by my track day bike + :) Honda Ranch 1.1.jpg
