Hello. The other day i was out driving a little to fast, i was really pushing the old RC36-2 to its limits and went above the max speed limits (240kmh) to 255-258kmh - a little down hill on a very long straight road...

The old VFR did not like that, right after the clutch starting the behave weird.
It was engaging way to late suddenly, i barely had any room changing the gears, the gears also became a bit harder to switch at the pedal, and netural was almost nearly impossible to find.

Now what i hope for is that i just need to bleed the fluid or something, but I have a bad feeling that it will not help at all and that my clutch is toast :-( what do you think ? Have you ever seen something like this before ?

Here is a little image i made to show what i mean.. if it make any sense.

a friend just told me : (if the clutch engage rather to late then to early, it is most likely not the clutch plate but something to do with the clutch lever, master or slave cylinder, or the hydraulics) - so i guess i will try to bleed first

Your picture shows the clutch engaging early Not late! (Clutch is Engaged when lever is released, disengaged with lever pulled in). Perhaps there is air in the system not allowing you to fully disengage the clutch making gear shift difficult.
Definitely worth a good fluid flush/bleed of the system then reassess the situation. When was the last time the clutch system was properly bled?

I would pop off the slave cylinder and see if those seals took a dump.

When was the last time you bled the clutch system (or any system) on your VFR?

And the RC36 can be pushed vary hard, all day, every day. With a little maintenance, they are bullet proof.

I send my machine to the mechanic at least every 2 year only to do saftey checkup and maintenance. Everytime i ask them to change every fluid there except oil and filter that I always do myself as I dont trust mechanics that much :D but every 2 year clutch and brake fluid, coolant get changed, and the bike is went trough in all kinds of way to make sure it is safe to ride on and dont need anything.

I just came home from a mini vacation so today or tomorrow I will bleed it again, and if that does not work pull of the clutch cover to se if there is a broken spring or something

Does this model have the same slave and shaft as later models? Maybe a quick check to ensure smooth and easy movement.

sometimes it helps to remove the slave cyl to retract and to hold back the piston with a C-clamp. also, unbolt mc from bar and hold it vertically by the lever while tapping on the banjo bolt area to remove any bubbles.
