Has anyone replaced a lightbulb within the instrument panel?
I’ve got one bulb that’s out and I already have the front panels, etc. off so why not…
Do I approach it from the back of the unit to get to it, or do I have to tear it apart from the front, taking each instrument out to get inside?
    Any tips would be appreciated.

bulbs just push into the back of the panel. Each bulb has its own socket. Just pull it out and replace bulbs.

Correct. And a great time to wire in a USB charging socket.

Just did this on my HawkGT...haven't tackled the VFR yet. Have all the bulbs though, as the Hawk only has 5 indicators & 2 instrument bulbs.
How hard is it to get at the back of the VFR instrument cluster?
Cap, where'd you add your charging socket?

It’s not difficult but does take some time to get to because of the plastics, etc.

@102dalz - I cut a brown wire to one of the back illumination bulb sockets and crimped on a male & female bullet connector with the thin USB charger red wire incorporated in one of the crimps. Then ran the charger ground with an eyelet to a bolt. I can snap a pic if you like, I have the upper cowl off my 95 right now.

I couldn't get to the front of my 95 last night for a clear shot, too many projects going on to move everything. But this is the style I put on every bike, been using them for years with zero issues. This one will be going on the 92 VFR that's on my lift.

eBay special. I mount them behind the dash and zip-ty the module to the wire harness out of sight. The module is not very big and can tuck in somewhere easily. The lead to the USB port (w/ water proof cap) is nice and long and I run it up to the back of the ignition switch usually.

    Hope that helps.

I recently renewed the instrument lights on my ‘93 VRF750FP using 4 x T10 LED bulbs. Such a lovely difference. I used YONGMING T10 501 LED bulbs from Amazon.co.uk.
