So I have a bunch of work that my old 87 VFR700F2 needs, including some aftermarket toys that have been waiting to be installed. I'm wondering if there's a competent bike mechanic in the DFW area that knows these older VFR bikes and is comfortable diving in neck deep into what may end up a project (not so involved as a full restoration, but this poor bike needs a lot of love right now). Any ideas?
not trusting the varying quality of shop mechanics means most of us insist upon doing our own wrenching; its not rocket science. the eighty-six and-seven vfr's are some of then easiest bikes to work on ever.
I've been at this since the 80s and I haven't met a capable mechanic yet, bike or car. Use your money for tools.
My big problems are (a) laughable lack of mechanical aptitude, (b) fear of screwing something up even further due to (a), (c) bike being down even longer with trouble finding parts after a (b) related incident, and (d) not getting the repairs/upgrades done right due to (a).
