    Hello,

I bought this Gear Indicator from Aliexpress (https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005...t_main.83.5defcaa4LK72vA&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm) and installed it following the directions.

When I turn the key to the 1rst position (engine not running) it should blink an (L) slowly but blinks fast.
The "L" it's supposed to blink slow and when engine it's running should blink fast and than show a "1" to start learning.

I can never get the "L" to flash slowly.

If I only plug the 12v, positive and negative without plugging the "data" cable from de Diagnostic Plug the Indicator blinks slowly....

Could someone PLEASE help me figure this out? I would like to assemble the fairing to be able to ride.

Any questions feel free to ask. (Sorry about my English. Not my native language.)

Sorry. I don't diagnose things from Ali...it takes forever and usually I just through that crap away. Does it work properly if you remove that item?

The Ali ones have always worked fine.... suggest running it on the centerstand, and regardless of the L flashing rate (in neutral), see if it flashes a "1" prompting you to put it in first. If not, I believe there is a reset procedure, something like 5 key ON, key OFF cycles..... check your instructions.... I'll have to dig mine up.

You can program it while going through the gears on the centerstand and maybe varying the throttle slightly, but better done on the road........

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have already made a reset to the Gear Indicator, I run it for about 15 minutes on the center stand and never displayed the "1", even if I go through the gears on the centerstand I can only get a "L" flashing rapidly.
I checked the ECU bi jumpwire the GREEN and BROWN wires and the FI light stays ON. No faults.

Could be the ECU sending wrong signals? And why?

Have you verified you've got the tach signal wire hooked into the proper wire on the ECU.....?

It's wired to the orange wire just like on the instructions.
Could it be due the LED bulbs I installed?

    raYzerman asked.

If you are looking for the Tacho output from the ECM for a 6gen then its NOT an Orange Wire!
You need to look for a Yellow/Green wire, most likley going to B11 or B17 of the ECM.

My diagnostic port (RED with 4 wires) doesn't have a yellow/green wire.
It has a Black (+12v), Green (-12v), Orange/White (data) and Brown (not used for the Gear Indicator).

Do you need a dedicated Tacho Signal or not?
raYzerman who has installed these mentions the Tacho wire from the ECU not the Service Check Connector, or diagnostic port you call it.
I've never installed one of these, just trying to help you out with the Tacho Signal from the ECM which you might need to tap into!

Not trying to annoy you or contradict, just following instruction for the 6th GEN VFR as per this video an instructions.
They refer to the RED diagnostic port...

That's fine. I think there has been confusion between the Healtech version and the one you have. Did some research and Yes yours should simply plug and play by fitting it to the DLC/Service Check Connector.
Sorry if I've confused you, I am the one that was confused.

Perhaps I'm confused too..... there are two types of gear indicators for Hondas..... one (for earlier Gens pre-2006?) has 3-way connectors for the speed sensor and a separate wire you take to the yellow/green at the ECU. Second type plugs right into the 4-way diagnostic port (I think using only 3 of the wires), thus taking speed and tach signals from the diagnostic port.
I did have an issue with one of the latter, and ordered another from a different Chinese supplier.... no sense asking these guys anything technical, they know nothing about their product, they only re-sell them. When they work, they work.

Yep! I have ordered another from a different suplier.
My VFR (2007) has a 4 wire Diagnostic Plug.
For the Gear Indicator I only have to use 3.
I checked and re-checked and everything is connected correctly but I can only get a fast flashing "L" and no "1" when engine running. Damn.

I don't really need this but I don't like to quit and I will find a way.

I just would like to ask if it's possible that LED bulbs would mess with the ECU signal. I don't have a single error (I checked).

    Thank you for your patience!!

LED lights will have nothing to do with it. Lighting circuits completely independent.
