Trying to replace my chain on my '14 800D. The owners manual states DID 525HV3 but supplier says they dont have this, not even on the DID website. Sprockets are OEM. Im looking for a gold/bronze chain. Any ideas for a replacement?

DID and RK are your best choices. Use a rivet link, not a clip, if you can. Most 525 applications have gone to 520, as those have gotten stronger over the years. If you change size (520, 525, 530-what I run on mine) you will need to change the sprockets too, which you should do anyway with a new chain.

Tons of choices available. Have you tried SprocketCenter or Kurvy Girl?

Thank you for the info. I thought the number had something to do with pitch. Now understand it's about weight/strength. Honesty my sprockets look fine but I will look closer and count my links. I'm assuming using a rivet link chain will require some type of special? I'll check out those sites.

Looking at a DID 525 ZVMX Super Street X2 to replace the OE chain. Any recommendations for a rivet tool? Obviously this is only get used a few times so not looking for an expensive commercial unit.

I was sure it did but I'm getting mixed info. My sprockets look very good. I'm the second owner so I'm not clear on the chain/sprocket service.

Chains and sprockets wear each other out. I too have changed only some of the components, but know that they'll all wear faster. You'll have to run the cost #s for yourself to see what works for you. Frequently the teeth hook, you can see this easily and also tell by turning the rear wheel backward. It'll sound terrible and throw fits and spurts.
