Does any know what the difference is between the 1984 VF1000R '84 and 1985 main wiring harness. Mine has been butchered by the previous owner and I can't find a second had 1984 VF1000R (E) one. there re a few VF1000F and VF1000R 1985 for sale. if the difference is minor, like changing one plug end or similar I will have a crack at modifying a 1985 or VF100F E one..

    The Part Numbers are :
    VF1000R E 1984 HARNESS,WIRE Part # 32100MJ4600
    VF1000R F 1985 WIRE HARNESS Part # 32100MJ4670
    VF1000F E 1984 HARNESS,WIRE Part # 32100MB6880

Does your 84 R have one spark box or two? My 84 1000F has two. My 85 and 86 1000R have one larger one. The F also has provisions for tail lamp warning light in the dash and a fuel gauge.

I would really expect the 85 R harness to culminate plugs in more appropriate places and have a better chance of correct configuration of those plugs.

If it was me and I had to make a first choice, it would be the 85 R. But, head over to honda.vf1000.com (U.K based) and inquire.

They have way more exposure and knowledge on the 84 1000R compared to other models.

My 1984 VF1000R has two spark boxes. I believe my 1984 VF1000F also has two spark boxes but one headlight, not two.
maybe the VF1000R G 1986 might be a better option?..it has 2 spark boxes and twin headlights? the part number is 32100MJ4900 which is still different to the 1984R

Sounds like that might be the ticket then.

Would have never guessed a later R to change like that. The U.S didn't get the "G".

Might check out the VF1000F2 "Bol d'or" too then. It might open up some search options. Basically a twin headlight 1000F with full fairings.

Look at the 1000R (F) and make sure they aren't just using the same graphic.

Yes the VF1000F2 "Bol d'or would also be worth looking at. Thankyou. My harness has been well and truly butchered, and what is still original is not in good condition...
