Sorry, not trying to be a dick. Pulling and re-installing the plenum puts a lot of stress on the system when the carbs are still in the boots. I'm sure everything will be cool now that you swapped out the o-rings.

    Cheers.

    Well this is new:

Coolant pipe on rear left head has a slow dribble. A drop every ten seconds or so makes its way out.

Not sure when it started - checked coolant and I was halfway to the low mark.

I’m assuming maybe something got bumped on carb re-installation?

Looks like it’s just an o-ring in there… I assume this can done without the carbs being removed?

Good luck on that. My experience has shown that you will spend more time swearing and struggling in the tight spaces than just pulling the carbs and doing it the "easy" way. Especially since you installed new insulators. And at this point you should be pretty much a pro at removing and installing those carbs.

Pull the carbs and replace all 4 o rings, imo. Do the cross over caps and tube too. It's automatic on any new to me bike when I have the carbs out. Never have to worry about it again in my lifetime.

So believe it or not the rear one popped out pretty easily with everything in.

The front is a pain because the #3 (I think? Front right) carb has the main adjustment screw that stops you from pulling the pipe out - I wound up just screwing it in a few turns which tilts it out of the water pipe’s path.

I know I need to re-do my carb sync anyway after replacing the fuel o-rings so it’s no big deal for me to reset that.

I will say though, after a few weeks of sitting dry the carb o-rings held - not a drop of fuel spilled when I ran the bike to find this leak.

Viton 7mm ID x 2mm cross section for anyone who finds this thread way down the line.

    Minor victories.

Three oil filters up for grabs - $15 plus shipping for all three.

They don’t fit with the David dodge oil mod anymore.

    P/N 15410-MJ0-405.

Side question - has anyone ever fit bar risers to an ‘85? I see some options for 86’s but I don’t believe the parts will be interchangeable there.

Managed to stretch the interceptor’s legs in upstate NY last week.

Put a few hundred miles on it and noticed when hot (temp gauge about 1/2 to 5/8 way up) it would get wheezy when leaving from a stop - and actually stalled as I was pulling back into my garage with the clutch pulled in.

I did have the carbs re-sync’d after the crossovers and coolant leak but didn’t mess with the fuel mix again.

Could this be caused by a Lean idle mix?

I’ve noticed it stumbles in the low-mid range (just off idle to about 5,000 rpm) until warm (temp gauge about 1/4-1/3 of the way up).

yes, could be a lean mix so just try getting deep in there and opening up the mixture screws about one-half turn and see what happens. check your plug colors too

VF700F are 39mm forks and unique. Every other model is either 37 or 41.

Stock VF700F bars are pretty damn tall already, but do you still have the stock risers under the clip-ons?

Don’t know why I let this sit for this long - totally ditzed.

I assume you’re talking about #11 in the parts fiche below?

Because you’re spot on - doesn’t look like they’re there at all:

Just triple tree right to the bars.

Partzilla is missing the part but from the original fiche catalog I bought off eBay (and you all thought I was a madman - muahahaha), p/n is 53104-MB2-671.

Of course eBay comes up with bupkus.

If anyone has a parts bike they’re willing to pull them off of PM me.
