    Howz it folks?
V4 virus flowing again in the veins.
Bought a 1993 new in '93. Sold it in '99 for just $200 less. Only bike I've left stock except the Euro turn signal lenses up on the tail.
Re-upped with a 2004 few years back. Sold it and '02 FZ1 to get a "for us" FJR1300.
Wife has her own bike again, so now starting the search for a more managable commuter.
620 lb FJR just not ideal for daily scooting, so back in VFR land.

    Welcome "back".

Which version you thinking this time?

    De-linked 98 - 99. Gear drive goodness, no bullshit.

But any VFR is awesome, we all know it.

Welcome to the forum : )
I've learned that the ONE comes up for sale about two weeks to a month after you buy a bike that's the best one at the time : / LOL
I wish my wife could ride her own motorcycle but I think it's too late in life for that....and her driving habits would not transfer well onto a motorcycle. So I have a 2014 VFR "for us" ; )

    Welcome back Rumblestrip.:Welcome:

If practicality (a more managable commuter) is the underlying the driver for your latest VFR search, then before looking exclusively at 5th or 6th Gen models, I guess you might want to flick through a few posts in this currently 21 page long thread - if only to be alerted to the charging system gremlins which have beset a lot of VFR (and similar vintage Honda models).

    https://vfrworld.com/threads/how-to-fix-common-regulator-stator-failures.39277/

Likewise a delve through more recent posts will demonstate that even now these issues continue to afflict the earlier models and they were only really fixed when Honda finally got around to fitting better charging systems to the 7th and 8th Gen VFR models.

In short if you are thinking of using a VFR as a regular commuting vehicle, then presumably reliability will be very important assuming you wish to avoid potentially being stranded.

It is also important to realise that non "service parts" availablity for earlier models is becoming increasingly a challenge. In Europe the 6th Gen models were actually available to buy brand new right through to 2013. So this side of the pond, getting parts for 6th Gen models is still OK, despite even the newest 6th Gens being at least 9 years old. However I have a feeling the 6th Gen was discontinued in the States a few years earlier, meaning dealer parts inventories are probably already being run down significantly, and as for parts for earlier VFR Gens things are unlikely to be any better.

Sadly the 7th Gen VFR is actually heavier than the FJR1300, so if you are looking for a significantly lighter and more agile motorbike then you might wish to try out an 8th Gen VFR (or its adventure clone the VFR800 Crossrunner especially if you are a taller rider) as both seem to finally demonstrate that Honda can indeed make quality and reliable motorbikes.

In the meantime have fun with the search. If you do pick up a VFR please let us know - PS the folks on here like photos.

Hello Ray and thanks Ski... kinda forgot I had merged over here previously.
Reading and learning the ins and outs of the "gremlins", thanks. Not in a huge hurry as I snagged a 2003 FZ1 back in the summer.
I'll post up once something falls into place.
