Hello. I have been working on my 1983 VF750f and found some strange wiring under the dash. The wired a illuminated push pull switch into the therm switch. See attached photos.

In addition, this unit was wired into the left and right turn signal wires. It was glued to the underside of the dash. It includes the following wires - X-S, X-C, Q, ACC, +12, B+, B-, R, L.

Any idea what these mods are for? Should I keep them?

The unit sure looks like one of the modules that converts separate turn signal and brake lights operations on a vehicle to a single light. I've ran those on some bikes with dual taillights, but that bike I don't see a reason. Maybe it's a safety modulator that makes some bulbs pulsate for a few seconds? Headlight modulator?

The only reason to tie into the Thermo Switch is to run a toggle to over ride it.

Ok - thanks for the help. I will toss this stuff in the rubbish and remove the splices. Strange what folks will add to bikes over the years.

The Thermo Toggle is nice to have, I run parallel switches on all my bikes. Safety backup and maybe kick it on a little sooner to stay ahead of the curve in city traffic. 2 wire switches get connected for fan operation, single wire switches go to ground.

Doesn't need to be a fuckin game show buzzer button tho. My god.

Just so I understand. You would pull the thermo switch to cool down the engine in the event of hot weather or a traffic jam? This would kick in before the switch on the bike would?

Correct. They typically come on pretty late. Some people source switches with a lower temp threshold. I just prefer to run a semi-hidden toggle. Plus it's a nice back-up if the thermo switch fails out on a ride.

Dont really know why i added the ? In there.. Im sure thats one of those high quality products and probably broken anyway.
That immobiliser, if it ever was connected, would most likely been in the kill switch circuit. Judging from those blinker wire "connections" i would check what was cut in the loom and how its repaired.
