So, my viffer hasn't run in 15 years. My step-dad replaced the wiring harness, then gifted it to me in parts while complaining about "stupid f***ing MC carburetors". I was terrified of the amount of work needed and stored it for years. I lived in an apartment and didn't have many tools, but I've built up a collection now. I decided to rebuild the carbs first after determining if the engine would turn and giving the old girl an oil change.

One problem though: While rebuilding the carburetors, I've discovered that one of the fuel mix screws is missing. The so-called "universal" ones (with the knurled wheel to adjust them) that come up when I search for them online have the wrong thread pitch.

Where can I source aftermarket ones?

Note: my pictures aren't the greatest, but the measurements are accurate, done with digital calipers.

    The threads are M6x0.5

    WELCOME ! ;)

keep trying online. should be available. order by honda part number, not threads. may be included in certain better-quality carb repair kits.

Thanks @squirrelman. I've been checking. The carb rebuild kits have shorter ones so far. I don't know if they were particularly different from '86 to '87, or from 750 to 700, or from F to F2, so I've been looking at kits for all 4 models.

If you are really stuck and in a hurry, your could JB epoxy on a small screw to give you adjustability access. Just a thought.

I thought if he could only find shorter fuel mix screws with the proper thread he could elongate it glueing a screw to the end to adjust with. Maybe I misunderstood his quest.

I can finally reply, now that the email stuff is figured out. I ended up just getting the one that TC suggested, but that would have worked in a pinch.

I did buy it. Thanks so much TC, it worked great (though the cap broke off as soon as I tried to twist it on). I'll post some pictures soon.

that's a simple cleaning, not a rebuild, which would include replacing fuel tube O-rings.

Nah, I tore it all down, replaced fuel tube o-rings, fuel hoses, and air hoses, then for each of the carbs I replaced slide diafragms, both jets, float valve, float valve seat & seat o-ring, synced floats, replaced float bowl o-rings, float bowl screw o-ring, then synced the butterflies. Replaced basically all screws as well and got new boots.
