1982 CB900F

Hey Stray, does your antenna plate face north-ish or south? I was surprised to see our dish facing NE from our latitude. In the past both DirectTV and Dish antennas faced SW. I understand you are much further north so I was curious.

 

Mine faces true North.

 

yea, I've got over 20 up there now, im binging on Youtube and just loving my new found internet freedom.

The CB900 will be interesting, it will all depend how the engine is.

When I worked at a Honda Dealer in the 80's you could not avoid those bikes. I think I can overhaul the carbs and adjust the valves in my sleep.

The holy grail (at least in a USA) was the 83 CB110oF. Hard to find these days.

Excellent. Now the real work begins. Definitely get a higher CCA battery. That helped a lot with both my Hawk and 750.

 

Nice. There was still A BUNCH of 750/900/1100 coming thru the shop in the 90's. Worked on quite a few and had some customers with trick Honda RSC racing parts.

I keep going back and forth on the decision to restore this bike or move it on. Its #3 in line for the operating table so I have time to decide.

 

Stock ones don't move my needle much anymore, but I def still like them. They will always be cool to me. There are some sick RestoMods out there for sure.

I have a couple projects that are perpetually #3 no matter what happens. Eventually.

 

Resto mod might be more fun!

 

Yea, true, however Im conscious of budget. Every bike I do I try to keep to a budget, and it also depends if Im gonna keep it or not.

Often, if Im not planning to keep it long term, its better to go OEM for resale and usually cheaper when you already have all the OEM parts on the bike.

But you are right, sometimes the custom projects are way more fun, its nice to let the creative juices flow.

 

Well either way I look forward to seeing what happens.

 

I think your talent and budget are better served elsewhere for my viewing pleasure.

I fucking wanted my friend's CBX750 so bad. I don't even know what happened to it, he kinda dropped off after a nasty divorce. Got a High School / College buddy that has a 86 CB700SC sitting in his garage (for 25+ years) that is driving me crazy.

Its #3 in line anyway so, I may just park it up in the big building and only work on it if I run out of projects.

My CBX750 is on the operating table right now, but im not getting into it too much untill the snow flies. At the moment im just picking away at its bodywork, removing layers of poorly applied paint.

Re the CB700SC, yea, very nice bikes, saw a decent one at the gas station on my last ride, dont see many of those
