For the past few years I have always made it a point to post or respond to a topic on some of my favorite forums regarding Veterans Day. This year is no exception. I'd just like to thank all military veterans, past or present, US or otherwise, for their service. The freedoms that we all enjoy every day were bought and paid for by them. Many of them paid for our freedoms with their lives and we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. Even those who came home without a scratch and those who never saw combat are just as important. You guys ARE the reason that we are able to get out and ride. Your strength in the right place at the right time is what separates the free world from the rest of the world. Without you our history would be quite different. We don't say thanks often enough even though we should. Veterans Day is your day and I hope you enjoy it and accept our gratitude for everything you have done for us.
I thank you as well. Truth be told, I love my job & wouldn't want to be doing anything else. Other than being a pilot that is. KC-10 FE out... lane:
Not quite sure what to say, but you're welcome, and Thank You for noticing. (USAF Security Forces/JTF Spec Ops - Combat/Recon Patrol, Search & Clear, Hostage Recovery) I also want to send a special thanks to the families and loved-ones of the Vets that never came home. They are the true heroes every single day.
your welcome although, I feel a bit awkward since I never went overseas or got shot at, etc. I did serve during Desert Storm and was on mobility but it was over so fast, my squadron didn't get called up.
I'm not very eloquent so I'm not sure I can put it into words either. I've always been a strong supporter of the military even though the closes I ever came was three years of ROTC at a military academy back in the 60's. My dad was a Marine although my parents were divorced when I was 3. I grew up outside an Army base (Ft. Campbell, KY) and knew a bunch of soldiers when I was in my late teens. Many of them went to Vietnam and many who went didn't come home. I think that put things into perspective for me and made me realize what the US Armed Forces actually meant. Outside the military I don't think you'll find many more staunch supporters than those who knew someone that died in the line of service. I know what the armed forces have done for this country, and I'm grateful. Unlike many of those from my age group who had other comments for the soldiers returning from Vietnam I've always supported the military. It doesn't matter whether a person actually gets shippped to a combat zone or not, it doesn't matter if they fly over at 30,000', it doesn't matter if they are in a non-combat unit. They did the job they were assigined to do and to me that's what matters. Things wouldn't function properly without all of you guys, and I appreciate it.
Let me admit now, I actually forgot it was Veterans Day till I saw the post. I made a quick "thanks" reply and that was that. It's been a few hours now and I can't stop thinking about it now... If anyone deserves a thanks on this day it's SSG Eckard, SSG Wahl, SPC Marcus, CPT Kenny, and the thousands of outstanding warriors just like them resting in the Fiddlers Green. Please remember the fallen Strike Fast, Kick Ass... Phantoms! SSG Sturm, Richard J. 13F3PH USA
I also want to thank all you vets out there that have kept the greatest country free. God bless America and all those who defend her.
I've been off active duty for a while now but I have a lot of friends still in and over in Southwest Asia.... I havn't heard from them in a while but I think of them often. Thank you and thanks to everybody who has kept all of our soldiers in their thoughts and prayers....
I would like to thank all my brothers and sisters for our freedom. I would also like to thank God for his blessing upon this country and other God fearing people. I love the freedom of clear thinking and the freedom to have an opinion. I also think it is our duty as civilians to live, speak, and vote for what is right. That is one way we in return can help protect those who protects us. God bless you all.
