The VFR that moved from CHEESELAND to the south is out and about. Son-In-Law is ticking away at the odometer and gaining confidence. Please see CHEESEALND VFR in Trips if this makes no sense to you.

Last weekend the bike spent the night at my place. We wanted R&G sliders couldn’t find any is the States. We installed Sato Racing pucks. The design of the Sato makes getting the hole in the fairing just right very important. Luckily for us simpletons Honda bored a .270 cal (approx) hole through the engine mount bolt that gets replaced.

I had the pleasure of moving the bike from my place back to his. Only about twenty miles as the crow flies but I burned a half tank of gas sampling the VFRs charms out amongst the cows and kudzu. This little thing is a BLAST!

There is one thing that I noticed, and that is giving the new owner trouble. The clutch engagement zone is very small. It doesn’t start to engage until the lever is nearly all the way out. It seems like it only takes about and inch of lever travel to from the beginning of engagement to fully locked up. It’s very hard to “modulate”. It’s not slipping. The bike has 7,500 miles on it. Messing with the lever adjuster can change where the friction starts but it doesn’t do anything to increase the size of the friction zone.

Has anybody else noticed this? We need a way to change the ratio between the master cylinder and slave cylinder somehow, it seems to me.

Out of interest. Have you given the clutch a good flush/bleed, possibly air in the system. The clutch fluid could be long overdue for replacement. Would be the first thing to try.

THANKS RAY! Exactly what I'm looking for........I think.

Not enough time to look it up my own darn self on lunch break, so, do we know what size slave is in the 2014 OEM? Oberon fittment doesn't suggest that both of their parts are interchangeable.

From the post Ray linked. “-5th gen clutch slave is 35.6mm
    - VTR1000 clutch slave is 35.6mm (I’m assuming as same part number)
    - 6th gen clutch slave is 33.5mm”. Gen 6 and 8 use the same part. Oberon slaves come in 36 and 38. I’m too scared of the 38 going too far to spend that much $. I think we’ll try an EBay gen 5 takeoff or the Oberon 36. Stay tuned.
