    Hi Everyone

I've only recently discovered the VFR800 - hangs head in shame. I start a new job in September and am looking for a reliable commuter/something to have fun on come the weekend. Most recently I've owned a Ducati Monster 696, 1997 Ducati 750SS and Triumph Scrambler 900. For various reasons I don't trust Ducati's reliability, and the servicing/maintenance costs for both of my traditional go to brands in Australia is unattractive.

Enter stage left the Honda VFR800. I've found a second hand/used VFR that I really like the look of. It has something like the grunt of a Ducati, coupled with the reliability of a Honda. It also looks really really good too.

I'l be doing a 90km round trip commute three or four days per week and like to hit the twisties on the weekends.

The main concern I have is that I'm buying into a bike that is no longer manufactured. I tried looking for colour matched Honda Panniers on Google and eBay and couldn't find them. I looked for a range of other Honda original parts and struggled to find these - particularly in relation to the legendary V4 engine. Is it going to become increasingly difficult to keep this bike on the road. I really want to experience the VTEC kicking in but should I buy one or go for something that is still in production? Am I going to struggle to find spares to keep this machine on the road?

    Thanks

    Welcome Super_Si.
To cut long story short. The 8gen 2014 onwards VFR800F is proving to be the most reliable VFR ever built. My own 2014 has done over 90,000 faultless kilometres. My three previous 6gens were also excellent but my current 8gen is the best by far. All of the electrical issues that plagued the 5th and 6gens have been addressed with the 8gen.
So, if you can find a well cared for, fairly low k's 8gen for sale, I'm sure you won't regret it. There is no problems procuring any of the general service items.
    Good luck with the search.
    Cheers.

If I end up getting the Viffer I want, I'll need red. But good to know there is a community out there with ideas on where to look.

I think I've only heard of one person buying a VFR and didn't like it. They are spectacular bikes, and bulletproof. I say buy it!

Ohhhhh am I happy!! I picked up my VFR this weekend and had a six hour ride back home. Had another blast today. Grinning like a fool. Love the torque. Love the VTEC. Love the rumble and growl. Handles beautifully and looks great. I had three random people comment on it today alone. Full credit to the previous owners care and attention to detail. Very very happy.

She's a beauty mate. So glad you're extremely happy with it, not surprised though.

Congratulations on your new VFR, I love my 8th gen too. Considering the bike was only discontinued in 2020 should mean you should be able still get spare parts for it.
