New Helmet

Don't really need another helmet, but I couldn't resist, too good of a deal.

And it's cool AF.



Brand new Arai Schwantz Corsair. U.S. model, build date June 2021. $600

I wasn't sure what to expect leading up to meeting him, but he was responsive in messaging and seemed legit. Wife told me, "Don't get mugged". That was after she gave me a look that accurately conveyed, "really dude?". I told her if this checks out you'll understand.

She said, "You know how you can save money?"

me: "Quit buying things?"

her: "Quit looking at things!"

After meeting him in a parking lot (with plenty of people around), the dude obviously doesn't need money. It was a gift from his brother and he didn't like it. Too flashy and he likes AGV helmets.

Got home and showed Sarah. "Yeah, that's pretty fucking cool. I understand." I said my Spencer RX-7 is getting kinda old and I'm gonna need another R/W/B helmet eventually. They aren't gonna get cheaper and this price was stupid.

 

Sounds like conversations at my house... either way we have cool wives.

Great pick up! They are not getting any cheaper for sure.
I am running with a new Hayden Laguna Corsair 10. I like it, but I wonder if a diff shell style will fit a little tighter. I get a bit of lift with the Corsair.

Same on the convo. I agreed to filter my search to keep it tight and not pick up random cool stuff... doesn't work, I still try and find diamonds in the rough. My wife is very cool on "buy what you want". It is really my cheapness that hold me back. Shit I almost bid on the RVF on Iconic yesterday. I had wanted one for so long, but I just picked up that Aprilia so I watched it go.

Great lid so keep it shiny!!

Oh and the "sun shade" thingy is kinda cool, kinda irritating. If you leave it at half up it will cause a high pitch whirl sound. I do like it though, because it is typically cloudy in the morning on the way to work so the clear is nice and then sunny on the way home.

 

Another good place to look is weBike in Japan. They no longer sell Arai or Shoei helmets to people outside of Japan. But they have a domestic website. I used a "shopping service" to buy it for me, then ship it to Canada. Picked up an Arai XD4. A lot flashier than I usually buy. Paid $700.00CDN, to my door. If you keep an eye out, they do have deals in fall and winter. My last purchase was a Shoei Hornet ADV in 2018. Got that one for $425.00CDN.

 

That's a beauty! My favourite Arai colour scheme too, I did not realise they still made them like that.
