Wow. That is cool. We took a 1991 ZX-7R in on trade at the Honda shop. That was the most uncomfortable sport bike I have ever ridden to this day.

one of the coolest looking bikes of the day I think.

1990 was a 1 year only bike, cosmetics are similar or the same as the 89, but the 90 came from the factory with all the go fast race parts that the super bike teams had to buy for the 89 bikes.

Finding parts will be a challenge - although a bike wrecker about 6 hours away has a parts bike Im going to enquire about.

But...this latest addition is not bad for ~$1500 USD - running nicely too

Another fine acquisition Mr Stray. That looks to be a lovely condition.

My best mate has been a Kawasaki man forever (has the Z-H2 now) and had the R model to run in for a racer colleague over a weekend, back in the day. It had the flatslides and CR gearbox, and even he, as a died in the wool green bike fan, considered it rubbish on the road. My VFR was easily up to the task of pursuit. upload_2022-7-27_17-17-28.jpeg

Finding a rear fender and rear hugger may be my biggest challenge. It needs a full resto but for the $ it was a great buy

I think it is cool. I always thought they were more appealing than most of the "sport bikes" of that era, but I didn't get to ride one. Maybe it is kinda like my RC51 that I wanted so badly only to sell it because it was just too uncomfortable for this fragile x racer.
Stray you are going to have to register with some historical club or start your own. :) SCVSB

^^Terry, I like the Doohan helmet on the ground. That was my first helmet. :) Doohan OK

I think the ZX-7 and the RC51 are very similar in this regard. They have to be ridden hard and fast to really work. At that pace you don't think about comfort, just your next apex. At least that's what I found after riding them both.

That’s why I sold my RC51… apex to apex was an awesome ride but getting to that road was brutal. But I wish I still had my RC51 .

Agreed 100% Capt. They are just track bikes. It took so long to get one and sort of regret selling it, but I never would have road it and I don't like owning anything that I don't use. I would go insane with Strays bike collection. "Honey I don't have time to hang out, I need to ride 4 bikes this weekend.". :)
