Uh oh, long time no post. Unfortunately she went through almost no progress for the last two years... That is, until I semi-bolted her into a push-able form, and had her towed to the mechanic for the winter.

About 3000eur later, she's back on the road, and my oh my, how much better she feels.

Front shocks rebuilt with new 'Bitubo' -brand progressive springs. Total cost around 450eur

Rear shock swapped to a new 'Wilbers' Adjustline mono shock, ordered setup to my weight. 599eur

The rear hub was fitted with a new bearing... 280eur. :duh:

Of course brake calipers and all the master/slave cylinders were cleaned and fitted with new parts and seals. (Brake caliper pistons and clutch cylinder were still okay).

The mechanic had invested in a hydraulic press and makes 'Hel performance' hoses. So new hoses it was.

New JT sprockets in stock ratio + basic RK chain... I'm still thinking of swapping a lighter drivetrain, with a narrower chain, maybe.

    Carbs were serviced and synchronised.

+new cheapo grips and red bar end weights.. (Were on discount and looked cool, they actually feel good too.)

All fluids were flushed and changed.

I made a makeshift footpeg out of the rear footpeg. And the right side mirror flew into the woods on the first ride. (Apparently the mirror arm had suffered some severe damage from the fallover and vibration did the rest.)

But all in all, yippee! She's great, she's a keeper for sure... maybe this kind of investments into these bikes keep their asking prices so high?... Anyhow, I'll hang on to her for as long as I can ride.

    Ride safe!

like the look of the down town district - riding with one mirror always screws up my perspective (just my two cents) I hoarded up spare body work that hangs from hooks in my garage, you see less of it now, shipping is always expensive, I bought a mid faring from the UK, cost 200 US dollars, 100 for the part, 100 for the shipping - You know what? I was happy to get it. Anyway, nice work and enjoy the journey. Peace

I've tried sourcing the mirror but seems like the folks that have these old parts for sale, aren't in a hurry to sell them.

But I almost have her in one piece. Some nuts and bolts are missing, or wrong. But I have most of them ordered from Honda.[IMG]

OEM is the best, I have Aquatrax hex-heads on my 93, not stainless steel but trick looking, like the CBR-XX Black Bird. Got some Triumph d-rings too, I am multi national you know

If you're not doing a 100% original museum mint object. Then I guess if quality is good, then it really doesn't matter, where the part was made in.

I'd rather use a quality chinese part, instead of a part that was "made" in country X. Probably just sub-par designed, in that said country, and anyhow manufactured, using sub-par materials, in china "to a price". But hey, it has a fancy logo...

^^problem is..................there are no quality parts coming from china. cheap parts may cost half as much but last half as long.

Chinese manufacturers can, and do make a lot of quality products. But they will also sell you a lot of crap if you want them to.

Their utter goal is to achieve what they are being ordered to do, no questions asked, no common sense used.

So if you order a pair of Jeans for 5 bucks. They'll find a way to make you something, that faintly resembles a pair of jeans. Even if they know the pants won't last a day, they got the product made to your price.

And ofcourse the wholesellers are on a level of their own. They have a seemingly infinite pool of knock-offs and discarded bad manufacturing runs of anything ever made on earth.

Almost everything these days is at least partly made in China, so saying everything from China is crap isn't quite accurate.

I'm getting a rattle when I tilt the bike to the right side when it is running. Wild guess, the clutch cover plate is cracked and the loose bolt ends rattle against the cover?

I've had the starter spinning nothing but itself a few times, mostly when the engine is warm.. I guess I'll need to address this rather soo er than later.

Since I'm going there, is an Ebc kevlar clutch pack any better than stock or do you have any recommendations? I would be okay with a stiffer clutch lever, since now, it doesn't always fully engage when doing fast accelerations and gear changes. Do any spring mods might do also?

I also need a new "maintenance free" chain, I mean no oiling the chain, just cleaning it.

Also, would the black widow exhaust work with the stock jets? Is it any good at all? I allready have a slight popping with the Laser slip-on.. The original collector and pipes are corroded like ***t so they look awful.
