Just looking at some slip-ons and after a lot of comparing I like the Scorpion for it's angular look that seems to go with the angular, stealth look of the Interceptor overall. Looks to be very good quality with no extra "strap" added to hold it on.

In looking over the technical info I see a contradiction in description on their website. One part for this exhaust says that all Scorpion exhausts are homologated and street legal. Another part says "Not homologated" very clearly.

If I were to get one (they are backordered I know), I would want the sound to be as close to the OEM muffler as possible, which is 80db I believe. Most aftermarkets are around 94db from what I have read. I watched the video Scorpion has and you can't tell from that unless they also had a stock bike sound to compare it to. They also don't state the db noise rating of the muffler like some other manufacturers do.

The Scorpion muffler has a db-killer insert which can be removed for track use, which makes it sound like the muffler may in fact be very quiet like OEM. If anybody has this muffler for their 8th gen can you tell me if it is quiet like the OEM?

    See pics of highlighted contradiction.

My wife had a Scorpion on her CB400 ( I know no real comparison), without the DB Killer it was loud. I had the slip-on shortened by about 2" and a Db killer made and adjusted to the level she liked which was a good level slightly louder than standard but not stupid neighbor waking loud.
I have the SC Projects on my VFR without the DB killer and it sounds awesome, but maybe a little loud ;)

I had a scorpion on my F4i but it did not have the dB killer. The sound was great that it put out. Heck, I even cut off like 5" so it would sit below the passenger pegs and it still wasn't very loud.
As Pete said, not really the same bike but an idea of how I liked it.

Factory noise @ 5 k revs is 90db. Says on the vin plate.

Why not drop scorpion a line, they are very good to deal with.

Thanks I'll do that. Just thought I would check if anyone already has that same muffler on the 5th gen. : )

I just submitted a question at Scorpion. My Honda OEM muffler has 80 dba stamped on the side of it.

I bought the Scorpion Serket muffler from England since there were none available here in the USA. I made a stock OEM to Scorpion comparison video in the link. I really like the sound as it is not loud at all and barely 2-3db over OEM stock.

Just this last week I was curious what the bike would sound like with the secondary baffle removed so I took it out and tried it for one day.
It was just a little louder, but my main problem was an annoying low pitch resonance added at idle along with an odd whirring sound, like the engine itself was making more mechanical noise. It was very noticeable at stop lights and the noise would come up through the bottom of my helmet. I noticed it made an ambulance siren harder to detect early on while at one stop light, so I put the baffle back in when I got home that day.

Next to my eyes, my ears are my second line of defense out there so anything that interferes with either of those is not welcome. : )

Congratulations on the exhaust, how does the bike perform compared to stock? I'm eyeing up one of their link pipes for my MT-10 when I de-cat it next year.

It's the same. Scorpion claims 1 1/2 HP over stock with the secondary baffle installed.

Had them on my '04 and thought they sounded best of what I had heard at the time. Plus looked "mega" as our UK friends like to say...
Good choice for your Gen 8.

Just recently fitted a Scorpion end can to my 5th gen, also fitted motad stainless headers. new end can sounds great, too loud for me though with DB killer removed, excellent quality.
and so to the stupid question,
when I was finished with installing it I found these 2 bolts left over, not sure of they were part of the old oem exhaust or came of the bike somewhere else?
had a test ride and she didn't fall apart!
anyone recognise where these might have came from?

Looks like the 2ea M8 flange bolts that bolt into the muffler band that connects the end can to header pipes?
