Hi, Just recently bought 1992 VFR 750, was a great ride home , about an hour had a blast riding it. I have owned a 82 V45 Sabre, 84 VF1000 Interceptor ( had sold it in the late eighties for a work truck, dumb move) and a 85 Yamaha FZ 750. So wanting to get back into riding I went out looking for some used sportbikes, test drove a 98 Ninja 900 and the VFR. The Ninja was a fast and quick side to side but the exhaust sound on the V4 sold me, plus the fact that I probably could not afford the speeding tickets I would get with the Ninja, not that the VFR doesn't move. What a sweet ride. Unfortunately I have found out more than I need to know about R/R. After first ride went out again about 3 miles lost everything, had to trailer it home. Your website has been great, followed the advice in the electrical problems, R/R threads, replaced the R/R, upsized the wires also have a volt meter on order to go in the fairing. Well I am back and running and it is great. I am a skier up in Vermont and this year I'm not too concerned when we get snow because I would rather ride some more this year. One quick question and I know it sounds crazy but I would like to put a back rest/ sissy bar on it for safety reasons when taking out the kids for rides does anybody have any info on what is available if anything or what modifications to some other models back rests would work. Thanks for any help.

welcome to the site. i am pretty sure corbin has a saddle that you can get a backrest with and I think sargent may offer a backrest that you can attach, but I dont know if it requires a special seat. I have seen the corbin one for a 5g but not a 4g, but they probably have one.

I have a Corbin seat on my 1997 (4th Gen) that has a mounting point for the backrest.

I'm new to the VFR's but I thought the 4th Gen was from 1994 -1997, the original poster has a 1992 so wouldn't he need to look for a 3rd Gen seat ?

    Corbin seat with backrest

Yes, corbin offers these. Have one myself on my 98 and bought it for the same reason- so my son wouldn't fall off.

Thanks for the info, I'll start looking for the corbin seat. Hope to get out for a ride today. It's nice and sunny but kinda of cold around 40 degrees.

    hi to all
    i joined today.
anyway i thought if anybody here can help.
i am new owner of vfr800 vtec 2004 with less than 1000miles on the clock.
i have always wanted a vfr because it got good rating.
for some reason there is something realy wrong with the throttle or fuel some how.
honda dealer say there is nothing wrong with bike/
any revs above 4k is ok, but try to stay below this and its very risky riding it to point i nearly came off.
anyone shed some light to this? knows how to sort it out....i dont realy want power comander.......its bad fuel eco.
i am really thinking to sell and never bother with honda bikes again.
it will be shame and sad to see her go because apart from bad throttle control and very very bad fuel economy i love it,,every side pf bike is as i dreamed to be....
no other bike to replace in the market that i like,,,,i may even stop riding for few years untill good bike is available to buy..

    fantactic site
    thanks all who reply
