85 VF500F petcock fuel tube

    So it appears that the fuel pickup tube that would normally feed the Run position is gone.

    So basically I have 2 Run It Dry settings, and Off.

    I'm pretty dang sure there is supposed to be a tube there, but I've never had this model or even seen how the correct setup looks..

    There's a shoulder inside the tap where the tube Should Sit for the Run feed.. and the strainer would have absolutely Nothing to hold onto if there were no tube.

    What should I do here? Press in a brass tube?

    I would attempt to press in some form of tube, yes. And/or use some fuel resistant 2-part product.

    And I'm pretty sure it's the outside diameter of the plastic strainer that fits into that recess.

    There's a black rubber like bushing included with the strainer piece. Guessing that goes over the pickup tube and then the bottom of the strainer gets pushed inside the larger recess.

    Then the oring seal goes over the strainer to sandwich between the tank and petcock?
