Clutch bleed problem vfr750 1991

    Hi hoping someone can help me with clutch bleeding problem.
    I have overhauled both master and slave cylinder but now can’t get fluid to come from master cylinder. I have fed fluid from bleed nipple with a syringe up to banjo fitting at master cylinder but can’t get fluid any further.
    Any suggestions please.

    It's likely the master cylinder didn't prime... you can try to open the bleeder at the slave and let gravity do it's work for a few minutes, or, crack the banjo at the master cylinder to bleed it.

    Thank you l will give it a go. But when l loosen the banjo at the master and pump the lever nothing comes out .

    How about getting a new slave cylinder? I never liked the re-build on them, always had good results with new ones OEM. Would be nice if you had an air assisted bleeder too, they sell them where you can use lever to build pressure, I have the ones that hook up to my air compressor. It can be a bitch to get a "Lever" sometimes with these hydraulic systems. Good Luck, and pictures are good, especially when your talking about GEN3 bikes! :Rofl: I have a soft spot for these bikes btw

    Get yourself a vacuum bleeder, they are not expensive and will suck air from the slave bleeder to pull liquid through the master piston assembly and get you started. Otherwise use that syringe and keep pushing fluid up from the slave end until it comes out the master.

    I have a cheepo bleeder, it won't last forever but has been really useful for at least 5 years.[​IMG]

    you may have mistakenly installed the master cylinder piston seal backwards, as we've seen on this forum before.

    if you can't get fluid pushing out of the MC, that's a likely issue.

    try placing a bolt (with proper threads and size) into the MC outlet, and if you can't get lever pressure then, your rebuild probably went wrong.

    vacuum bleeders may be helpful and quicker, but they are not a necessity for a good bleed.

    usually helps to remove the sprocket cover to hold the slave cylinder piston fully retracted using a C-clamp.

    Yes l can only think it’s the master. Tried vacuum pump but won’t pull through. Tried syringe again pushing through slave bleeder but won’t go. Tried good old gravity but nothing. Tried reversing the seal on piston in master as Squirrelman suggested but no different. Nothing coming out of master cylinder, now getting fed up, can’t move the dam thing. Any more ideas please.

    So you just reversed it? Didn't confirm that it was indeed correct or incorrect? If so, you now get to take it apart again.

    Thank you Captain 80s but how do l make sure it’s the correct seal, l bought it as a repair kit ?
    Maybe l am being stupid but this is all new to me

    I meant INSTALLED correctly. You made it sound like you just reversed it as a hail-mary without verifying it was either right or wrong in the first place.

    I don't know if that is generic stuff or OEM (or at least OEM quality like K&L or TourMax). The cheap kits are garbage.

    Time to inspect the bore of your m/c perhaps. Why were the components being rebuilt? Preventative or trying to repair a non-working system?
