61 and riding more than ever. Bought a 97 VFR new and rode it for thirteen years. Then switched to a Ducati St3 which I've had for more than ten years. Never enjoyed the Ducati as much as the VFR, so last fall I purchased a 5th generation 01 VFR. Its great to be back riding the VFR and getting over my regret for selling the fourth gen 750.

Turning 59 soon. Just sprucing up the vf 500 (no "r"). So far I've ridden about 300 miles this spring. There's still a lot of sand and gravel on the local roads.
To date I've been scouting routes on 4 wheels before riding on two. May seem cautious, but we've had a death on a bike in the area already, also one incident where a guy drove into the lake.

There certainly is no lack of very nice roads near Penticton.

20150531_180851.jpg Thanks Randy. I grew up in Langley. Used to love Glen Valley for riding. Back then it was a CX 500. Can't wait 'til it's safe to cross the border again (i.e. not having to quarantine for getting gas and a cup of coffee). The route from my house goes through Osoyoos, Oroville, Tonasket and then to Omak. All highway riding and a really nice cruise in very similar terrain. Lots of nice back roads too. We used to cross the line just for Mexican food at Rancho Chico. The Cascades is another great trip.

There are three of us who go on an annual ride usually in Washington, Oregon and some of south central BC. We three have been doing this for about 10 years or more now. I met them through this forum and we have become great friends, not only riding. One has since moved to Osoyoos as has another of my non riding friends. One friend to Oliver. Last year our ride was cut short due to smoke and this year remains to be seen. We do miss Eastern Washington and north east Oregon. Fantastic roads and we go after the September long weekend so most campers are off the roads with their rug rats in school.

If they relax the travel restrictions, maybe sometime this summer, I will rode out there and look you up for a ride coffee or beer or all of above. I assume it will need to be a Saturday or Sunday, assuming your are still a working stiff.

Bog here, turned 67 this year, put 7000 miles on my 03 this year, what a joy to be on 2 wheels again. I wore out a set of q3s ,and installed Bridgestone t30 s,have to say the t30 seem to be much better than q3s,in the handling dept, will see what next year does to the t30. Will do a thorough maintenancethis winter, here in the upper peninsula the winters are usually long, maybe 4-5 months

Hi and Welcome to the MadHouse:Welcome:

When you get time, please swing by the "Introductions" part of the forum and say Hi to the rest of the folks on here, tell us a bit about your riding history and your newly acquired VFR. Don't forget to add a photo or two of the VFR to stop the folks raggin on you. They like photos on this forum and it is easy to add photos - just click the "Upload a file" link and follow the prompts to select and upload photos from your computer.

You may want to update your forum profile to include an approximate location - city/state is fine that way it appears automatically with all your posts and if you need help with the bike you may find someone nearby will be happy to come over and offer advice or even pick up a spanner especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge:drink:.

In the meantime enjoy the new bike and ride safe - ATGATT

I'll be 70 in 2 weeks and just brought a 2007 vfr. I ride about 15,000 miles a year. Had a 2010 vfr1200 a few years ago, it was an awesome bike. Hope the 2007 will be also. From riding it the last 2 weeks I think it'll be great for me.

74 and riding and enjoying it :) No i do not ride slower but safer. I am in love in bikes since i was 16 and got my bike license and an old II WW Luftwaffe courier bike Ardie 200 cc. which i restored and modified. Amazing that every year i still learn new things and improve my skills.

It is thanks to the fact that VFR is very forgiving . It just scares you a bit if you act foolish so you do not do it any more. So at that point your wife is plain wrong. This is a bike for you, not a mad Kawasaki or crazy Ducati. Gives you a credit and as long as you do not abuse it it will teach you, not lynch you.

I was a bit too cocky at 34 years of age but got tempered by competing in go kart races and of course by getting a child and now and then a "memo" from my wife.

It looks like your wife cares so be prepared for more "rational" arguments and just keep loving her. She means no harm.. :)
