I am ready to drain the break in oil out of my Mini-ceptor, what is the current best oil? Is it cool to run synthetic oil in this bike? Ester or PAO?

I run Amsoil Syn in all my stuff ( Hawk, Mille, SV) but that is a very unqualified choice. I have yet to change to the final oil of choice in my VFR since I am at the beginning of my build but I think I might just stay with Honda 10-40 reg. The Hawk doesn't seem to mind the Amsoil syn. 10-40.

I was thinking of the oil in the Hawk also....

I used to be a "dealer" for Amsoil and it is good stuff. Just hard to find sometimes.

Good that you have not seen any weird side effects using synthetic.

I feel like my Vtec Spaceship shifts better with Honda GN4. After trying Rotella T6

But I run Rotella T4 in the first gens. Working just fine. Plenty cheap, meets specs

Oh boy, you got guts, I'll give ya that!

Honda HP4. Used to use Amsoil, but I have switched to this. Used it for the dyno break in process and tuning on the RVF428. I'm sure this won't be the last answer you get. Good luck with your decision, JM.

Sticking with dino oil is probably a good call.

I have used Rotella on off road industrial equipment and never considered it for a motorcycle. But it does meet JASO standards. I had no idea.

I've checked three stores this week for my beloved 15W40 Rotella dino oil, but I can only find 10w30. It may not be the *best*, but I use it on everything, and I change it often. You can't convince me there's better value vs performance. This isn't an informed nor well-researched opinion, purely anecdotal. But I'm happy with the Rotella.

However, for the first time ever I actually noticed a difference in oil on my SV650. I accidently bought 15W40 T6 instead of the 5W40 T6 synthetic I normally use, and it shifted like shit. Swapped it out after one track day and immediately the shifting felt better. But I run the dino in everything else.

Crazy....I actually saw the Rotella T4 in Harbor Freight of all places yesterday. Almost bought some. Not sure what the weight was however.

Honestly Jim, at this point y9u're unaware and uninitiated to the cult of Rotella. This is your last chance to run away from the Kool-Aid that is the Rotella Cult. The moment you put $14/gal oil in your bike that performs on the same level as $40/gal oil, you may never come back.

Tread lightly. I promise some sages here will argue I'm wrong. But you were the one that started an oil thread.
