If the Staintune didn't have that extra mount I wouldn't have even bothered. But I'm not having an empty mount hanging out in space, and I'm sure as hell not grinding on a Staintune.

I might make a custom formed round tube mount, but I wanted to do this version first.

This side was also not easy. Decided to maintain the parabolic curve and keep some of the ribbing for strength, since it is a center stand assist.

Modded bracket looks decent. Not awesome. But I pretty much knew what it would look like because of the casting limitations. But I still like it.

I reshaped the rear muffler bracket, I don't know what somebody was thinking. Clears bodywork and tucks in nicer now.

I still haven't "detailed" the bike. It has had one bath after a long ride since arriving.

    Left handle came out killer.

Oh... and that tank protector is going. I can't stand fake carbon fiber shit. I make my own out of clear thick vinyl that disappears. This one is due for replacement after almost 30 years.

Maybe I'll buy one more right bracket and try eliminating the forward branch and have just the spar that comes down to meet the mount... hmmmmm.

Edit: Another bracket on the way. Might as well find out. It's just a shit load of time cutting, blending, sanding, filling and painting. Got nothing else going on. Sheesh.

Why not just modify it how you want and then get it ally welded up to look correct?

I'll give this a try. I don't hate the one I did, I'll see if I can improve it. I think that my last idea will about what I want anyway, I just didn't think of it at the time.

I can keep a small curve visible and have it kinda match the handle side too.

Could be just my eye, the staintune, now looks off kilter in relation to the tail section of the bike. Also, if its too close to the rear tail panel, its melty melty time...?

Nope it was just the angle of the shot, the body work starts bulging out and creates that illusion. It is pretty much in the exact same spot, just now the bracket follows the same angle as the muffler and the under edge is no longer hitting the bracket and putting pressure on the bodywork. No melty melty.

That's a sweet looking Viffer for sure, absolutely love that high mount pipe. Kudos as always on the sano bracket mod, patience is a virtue I surely wasn't blessed with!

Thanks! I was struggling with the rear bracket. It had to have complex curves in it to satisfy everything. In to clear bodywork, then back out to meet the exhaust and a twist match the angle of the muffler bracket. Back and forth from the bike to the vise, back and forth. Using two large crescent wrenches mostly, one to grab the bracket and the other to manipulate that wrench. Went the wrong way once and pretty much had to start over. I just couldn't get it. I was getting pissed, yelled "FUCK!" again right when my wife walked down to see what I was yelling about and gave it two big wacks with a hammer in what I thought was the right direction. Outa patience. She spun on her heels and went back. Walked over to the bike... perfect.

OK, round 2 on the passenger peg deletes. I like this one as it is tucked in better. It took a LONG time.

    20210909_084520.jpg

That was the limit of getting it flush with the mount before I ran out of material to work with. It was quite a bit fill and blend work to do.

    20210909_084502.jpg

I'm still not completely enamored with it, but it is better in person than the first one. I really prefer a cast Honda looking bracket there, than a custom welded up tubular mount. But I think those look pretty good too. What do you think about blacking them out maybe?

I did do another handle side too so I might sell the original ones I modified that would look GREAT with a low mount pipe.

Bike is looking AWESOME!! So jealous!

Hard to decide on what an optimum braket would look like.
Mbe spray the thing flat black as a test? If you dont like it, then strip it.....

Btw - no posting on VFRD?

I know... It's just time consuming to double up. And now I'm posting Hawk shit too. VFRW seems to be a little more receptive and talkative about my old crap. I tend to keep it just technical contributions over there lately. But I'll pop over after I'm finished painting the house this fall and do some catch up.

    Thanks for the kind words!!
