Hello, I need to replace my front tire and don't wanna take it to the shop so have been looking at getting a front wheel holder but some places are saying that you shouldn't use the front holder without a rear one as well and i don't really wanna have to get a rear one as well. So i was wondering if i could just use the center stand and the front wheel holder or just the front wheel holder, Thanks.

The centrestand plus some support under the engine will work well.

So... You just want to lift the front up whilst you slip off the wheel, but you want to save as much cash as possible?

    Here's a free hack.

I'd first loosen everything you need on the front end whilst its stood on the side or center stand. Once the front end is only slightly better than finger tight it won't wobble around much as you remove the wheel after the next stages.

If it wasn't already on the stand, now place it on the center stand. The wheel is still well enough attached, it will roll backwards safely onto the stand.

Now securely tie enough 20Kg sacks of Spuds (potatoes)/Water Softener Salt/Gravel/Sand/Something-Heavy across the pillion seat until the front end comes up and it rests on the rear wheel and center stand, instead of the front wheel and center stand.

It won't need many sacks. The center stand is strong enough to take our weight sat on the bike, it will cope with a little weight like this with no trouble. Remember to securely tie each sack on. You don't want them falling off with the front end missing. Although, with the wheel missing the front end will be pretty light.

Instant access for free. Unless you have to buy those sacks of course. But you do get to eat or otherwise use the contents later.

Obviously, when you put it all back later, you do your final torquing after the weight is back on the front wheel.

This description was modified from watching a pair of mechanics do it back in the day. One sat on the pillion seat for 10 mins. I'm guessing you will need longer that that.

I tried a front wheel stand on my 93 while it was on the center stand and the rear tire hit the ground and it was going to raise it off the center stand which would have toppled the bike. I ended up taking the rear wheel off. The above post would work well also.

centerstand + a jack under the front exhaust pipes is all that's needed.

I was thinking of a similar hack but I don't have a center stand anymore but have a rear Pit Bull stand. So the headers can take that much pressure?

Ive a purpose cut length of pine 1x1x9.5 inch. Get the wife to push the back down and push it under the sump between the headers and tap with a hammer till its wedged in there good. Had the whole front end off for a couple of months with it. Nice and cheap

I use a rear stand and put a steel rod through the axel holes. Been doing it for years and have never had any issues.
