We've all seen the bumper sticker... I think. Just wanted to kick off a thread about what everyone has done this season (including work done over winter) with their bikes. Had a couple of years away from riding, so my bike incurred a maintenance deficit. So far this year I've replaced both tires, Battery, starter relay and installed fog lights. Still waiting on a voltmeter and right hand controls (headlight/start button gremlins). So what kind of love have you shown your wheels so far?

I bought it :) Well, technically I "bought" it last week, but the ride home was slab and the weather has been so miserable since that I didn't ride it again until yesterday.

I ordered a new pair of boots - as much as I wanted to use my old Oxtar's, (TCS) they are race boots and 8 years off the bike have changed my opinion of what "comfortable" means. They will still be used for more sprinted riding days but for general purpose/touring, I picked up a pair of TCS Hub WP's.

Hopefully I'll ride it again a few times before I have to even think about washing it :)

Went to the garage and began preparations to bring the VFR out of winter storage (even though we still had a bit more snow yesterday). Charged up the battery and installed it, pumped up the tyres and wheeled it outside and sure enough it started it up first time. Bring on the summer.

Just fixed my starter switch on the vf 500. Ordered a right hand control off of ebay, and it came complete, except both pins on the starter switch were broken off (and weren't even in the package). The only part I needed was absolutely useless. Went back to my old one and jury-rigged to make it work. Had to re peen (is that even a word?) the two contact points to make proper contact, and find a small coil spring to push the contacts against the circuit board. Somebody previously posted (squirrelman?) one of the things you tend to do with older bikes is develop skills. Ayuh, you certainly do. Every challenge we face brings us an opportunity.
