Well, Im back from road trip. I probably shouldn't have bought the VFR, the mileage is very high, but being the sucker I am, I took the deal on all 3.

90 VFR750 with 80,000 km on it, Original except the Yoshimura R&D pipe will clean up well enough, needs a left mirror base
93 GSXR750 needs a clean up and light resto, 20,000 km all original
97 CBR600 F3, 18,000 km pretty clean needs a few cosmetic touch ups.

$3900 USD for all of it , $4700 CAD. ---- did I do OK?

Looking for ideas on the VFR750...... clean it up and sell it off right away or project Race Rep /Modded bike ? what can I make from this one, what have you seen done ? seen a few RC30 replicas.

    Wow. You did great. god-dammit.

Comment on the VFR: Keep it stock-ish, clean and sell if you're not interested in riding it. The later 94-97 VFRs make better mod candidates because of the frame above the footpegs.

Ohhhhh the CBR that's not a Smokin' Joes, but is rockin' the colors.

I'm so confused. I go onto my local Craigslist or Facebook marketplace or whatever and find 9-owner EX-500's and whatnot going for $2.5k right now. Maybe a spray-bombed 2003 Yamaha R6 for $4.5k.

What a haul. Something tells me that CBR with the Vance and Hines sounds really, really nice.

    This ^

Stray has a little thing called: Connections

Likely due to the fact that he buys and sells so many bikes.

Re the CBR, yea, its not Smoking Joes, but my Brother had one identical in 97 and I always loved it, so I had to have it. who knows this may have been his, ill find out when I change the ownership and see the owner history.

Roger that on the VFR, im gonna clean it and move it on.

Glad I did ok, I get caught up in the deal and sometimes go too far. 16 bikes now and im full. Guy also has a Corona GSXR600 he will sell me for 1500-1800 bucks (CAD) but im a bit jittery to keep buyin'

I just lucked into these, found a Buell XB9R on Kijiji for a good deal (our version of Craigslist), and he had a pile of bikes he wanted rid of. was into collecting and got fed up with the maintenance. In addition to the Corona GSXR he has a Triumph TT600 he will sell for 800 (likely get it for 500).

Wife may shoot me if I bring 2 more home, I only just squeezed these ones in.

The GSXR is all stock which is unusual. Both the GSXR and the CBR have some rash on the left side, il need to find graphics for these.

Ill be happy if I can pocket $1500 on the VFR750

My joy is short lived. I should have looked a bit closer at the VFR, got caught up in the euphoria of the deal It runs well and it drives, no smoke etc, but when rev'd in neutral the cutch basket rattles. Neutral switch it F'd as well. Will only start and run with the kick stand up.

Ill be moving it on, with full disclosure to the buyer. Ill take way I can get.

You would still get 1500 easy here in WA with full disclosure. The neutral thing is probably a very easy fix. I'd pop the clutch cover off and do a little exploratory too. One gasket, and who knows, it might come off in one piece.

VFR is gone to a new home today. Of course a few other issues surfaced while the buyer was here, so that didnt help much. But he made a reasonable offer under the circumstances and all in all I still did ok on the other 2 taking in to account what I got for the VFR.

Ill focus on the other 2 this winter. The GSXR will be the main project. They are hard to find all original like this. Most have aftermarket pipes, and signals with chopped rear fenders etc.

Are "Connections" those things you get when you're a well-adjusted, charismatic individual with interpersonal skills that knows a bunch about motorcycles? Damn, I might be doomed to overpay for many many years.

Congrats on the VFR sale, Stray. But please, for the love of God, don't talk about "winter" yet, hah.

I was just thinking the other day, "sure don't see many F2/F3 CBRs on the road anymore". Nice find, good friend had a '96 then a '98 SJR CBR, fun bikes for sure, killer sound with a TBR exhaust and they're really strong for a street 600. One of the friend we raced with did a big bore F2 for endurance racing, thing gave most 750s fits.

As an unabashed GSXR lover, that '93 is definitely the dogs dangles of the bunch for me. Shame the engine parts are all but unobtainium these days. Definitely nice to find one near stock, as I get old, I find myself preferring all my toys as stock as possible (funny how that is) . One of my other good friends had a well worked over '92 GSXR-600, Dick Speed D-ported big valve head, 835cc piston kit, Falicon crank, Keihin flats, PM wheels, etc.

Nice finds! And as others have noted, not easy these days with so limited inventory for sale and prices through the roof on everything. As a seller, you should make the money while you can.

Thanks, yea the CBR will go back to 100% stock, the V&H pipe is coming off and a NOS one going on (ugly but original).

I haven't ridden he GSXR yet, I m fully expecting an absent 2nd gear, very very common on these. Will be an interesting restoration if parts are hard to get, no one makes the correct decals either, there are some out there but they dont fade or transition from one colour to another correctly. These early 90's GSXR's are under valued just now, they'll be the next ones that every one wants. Right now the 85-89 gsxr's bring very healthy money.

While I appreciate unmolsted bodywork, paint/decals, turn signals, and such, not sure I could ride a bike with a stock exhaust, at least a slip-on for some visceral sounds.

Probably good thing you're up north of the border and not closer, I'd be very tempted to try and pry that GSXR out of your hands! Best of luck with them all.
