My bike is in need of front and back. The front is original stock tire 06 VFR. Back I replaced at about 3000 miles with a dunlop qualifer. Got about 4000 miles out of it now both need to be replaced. I dont use my bike like I use to for commuting to work and playing around. Now I just ride when Im off and have the time. Im semi aggressive and will seek out twisties anywhere I can so grip is a big factor. Id like to get more miles out of rear tire but I dont want to slide cuase tire losing grip when Im doing the curves. So in the end guess if I cant have both grip and longer life I choose grip. Any Ideas?

Just recently got the new Michelin Pilot Road 2's. worth every penny of the 380.00 (includes mount/balance/disposal and tax) I spent and I have only gone about 500 miles on them. With these new tires you get both grip and life because they are dual compound tires, for sport touring though. look into them, they have been independantly tested as being the best in both wet and dry situations.

    Continental Road Attacks.

If you take an impromtu survey, you'll see that a large majority of late model VFR riders would recommend them. I have them and they are Tail Of The Dragon, US Rt 129 approved.

    KC-10 FE out...

Are the Michelins the tires they tested in Motorcyclist this month? I remember the article had a VFR and the tires came highly reccommended. I'm just starting to get the flat center on my rear tire.... too much straight stuff getting to and from the good roads:ballchain:

That be the ones! Yah, I have to ride about 35 minutes to get to the good stuff too. Can't wait to make that run with the new shoes though......

I have a fresh Michelin Pilot Road in the back and a Michelin Pilot Power in the front. I never like mixing tires, but the Pilot Road fronts were back ordered. The combination works well and they stick in the wet or dry. 600 miles and don't see any odd wear yet. 5th gen solo rider w/bags.

    Pilot Road 2s

My 2 cents worth here....I now have about 1,900 miles on my Michelin PR 2s on my '07 VFR. 1,200 of those miles are from a trip to Georgia 2 weeks ago, even did Deals Gap on them. Road through a rainstorm on the way down and they were excellent, rode the highway all the way back at about 90 the whole way. I've ridden the twisties in southern IN 3 times now and they are very grippy on the corners due to the dual compound. I've only worn down the center of the rear tire 0.5 mm since new. For comparison, I wasted the stock Dunlop D204s in 2,800 miles, then had some Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pros (cheap from a buddy) for only 1,900 miles and they were shot. To be honest, the PR 2s are just as grippy and feel better than the other 2 sets I've had on it. I think this is the perfect balance of grip and mileage.

pushing it, just can't beat the Qualifiers, but in your riding behavior, I'd go with the Conti Road Attacks, probably the best all around tyre made.

Michelin's, sorry there good grippers but no better than the Qualifiers, & wear 2 to 3 times as fast. I was changing them out every month or less (1500 or less miles on them) vs the Dunlops 2500 to 3500 miles on them.

conti on my Sprint are @ 6000 strong & still going, great handling & feed back from the road.

Yea I ride hard on tyres, but you learn about them quickly $$$$$$

Don't get me started on Perelli's great grippers but wear even faster than the Chlins

Just to clarify, I bought the new Michelin Pilot Road 2s......they just came out in Sept 2007. I think you are referring to Pilot Powers? I could believe it that the Pilot Powers wear fast, but the Pilot Road 2s are the newer version of the Pilot Roads and they are superb on wear so far.

glad you brought that up, have a set on my '04 VFR to try out & have to say @ 629 miles, I've worn them out of 1/3 of there life span (side tread not the center, I almost never wear out the center tread, as to why I sell them to stunters to get some $$$$ recouped), so I haven't givin them the full tire thrashing yet (because my daughter is ridding it mostly now). But of what I can see so far, there not going to last more than 2500 (because my daughter is riding it mostly, lasting longer) So I'm not impressed.

With the seasons changing, I'm throwing on the Dunlop 616's on all the bikes, to continue to ride in the foul wheather, since I ride all year round, & the 616 is the closest to handling of a full blown rain race tyres, but with great dry condition handling:biggrin: .

Thanks alot all for taking your time and giving me your input. I have decided to go with Bridgestone BT 021's over the other tires, mainly price issue. 21's are less. I ll let you know what I think about them, just had front and rear tires put on today. Mike
