The VFR is looking great with freshly painted wheels and new tyres but the collector box has a small leak, rats! As it's a huge lump of metal, are there any bypass options to do away with the box? I've checked eBay etc but not had any luck...

If you can't get it welded it might be time to fit some stainless headers and collector box, there are some oem ones on ebay for sale.

Shoot a message to OOTV or sfdownhill. Don't know if they have any left, but they were developing and selling catless headers.

All things considered it's probably time to go stainless steel, Delkevic seem to have the best solution at £239. I've read a few posts on Blackwidow headers not being a great fit, this could be down to the fitter but Delkevic seems to be favoured by most. I was trying to keep my spend on this bike down to what I can reasonably recover if I need to sell but I think that notion has gone out the window!

I took the plunge a couple of days ago and ordered Delkevic! The power of the forum! They look very well made and at a very fair price when you see the cost of OEM. The old exhaust was absolutely finished, I don't know how it was holding together.

I really need/want to do mine but delaying due to the drama i know will occur when i try to crack the nuts!

Gotta see how much the MOT costs first though, been garaged for 5 years, if its not massive perhaps ill bite the bullet and pay them to do it while its still there.

We don't have many bike mechanics up here in Scotland, most have gone out of business but I use an ex-Honda trained mech who used to work for one of the main dealers before they too went out of business. I don't fancy my chances of not cocking up and snapping a stud or crushing something that shouldn't be crushed!

The Delkevic arrived today, very quick postage and it looks tip top. There's a little bag of goodies including cement, crush washers, the probe connector thingy etc, I am very impressed by the quality of the steel work and the bags of extra bits. Makes me wish I had the bollocks to try attaching it myself! Man maths is curious thing when it comes to motorbikes, I have now spent way over budget on my VFR with zero chance of ever getting it back but I'd do it again. If all goes according to plan, I might even get to keep it.

Mind you Ratter, my mind was made up for me on the exhaust when a pin-prick hole turned out to be a big hole with a similar situation on the other down pipe too.

Mine is blowing a bit from the rear joints and it looks like crap!

I want to keep the OEM can as its just low enough for my Givi panier to clear it, is the Delkevic system higher/lower/same as standard?

I'm not into the loud end cans so mine is standard too, it's just the header pipes and collector box I got from Delkevic. Fortunately, when I bought the bike the owner had kept the original can and it was in as new condition so I quickly swapped it with the aftermarket one.
