Even though it's winter and I don't have a garage at the moment, I thought I would start some work on her. I did an oil and filter change as well as fill-up with non-ethanol gas with Stabil. I got new mirrors from eBay to replace the stupid bunny ear mirrors a previous owner had put on.

I knew I could expect two holes per side to deal with, but lo and behold it was a bigger mess than expected. Three holes (despite only 2 mounting screws per bunny ear) and a nasty and poorly repaired crack on the left side. Wtf

So I pulled off the plastic and brought it inside for cleaning. The right side was a little better since there was no crack.

I decided I just want a temporary and acceptable cosmetic fix for the time being. I don't care for standard JB Weld, but I love their SteelStik product and was excited to see they have the same thing for plastic.

So I filled the holes and the crack with the epoxy, let it dry, and sanded it down. Not perfect, but good enough for now.

I found a wrap vinyl that is kind of close to the white. From far away you won't be able to tell, haha. I covered up the big patch on the left and cut little circles to cover the filled holes on the right.

Not close to perfect by any stretch, but better than it was! I'll update this thread as I move along.

You will find that you will have to make compromises along the way. Got my original 83 looking pretty good but had to adopt the 84 paint scheme after I bought a replacement tank in good shape. Haven't found a decent windscreen or after market replacement. Yours looks alot better than mine. One problem you will have are the stock mufflers, most likely rusted at the lower front due condensation over the years.

Yeah, I haven't got a really close look underneath but the mufflers might be a little sketchy. Overall the bike is in much better condition relative to the price I paid for it. I'm not a perfectionist and it will never be a museum piece, so I'm fine with it just looking fine.

Looking good, I did not know JB Weld made a product like that. I may have to try it.

Good Luck with your project, the bike looks like a good base to start with.

Now she's deep cleaned, waxed, chain adjusted, all fluids changed, three yellow wires soldered, hood cowl repaired and new original-style mirrors added, new battery... She drives like a dream!

Oh, guess I haven't posted in a while! I put about 3,000 miles on the Interceptor this summer and fall, but now it's my garage for some maintenance over the winter. Here are a couple cool pics from when there wasn't snow on the ground, haha.
