Attempted VF1000F2 resurrection

Managed to find a good set of original exhausts, advertised as VFR750, incorrectly

Paid $50 for them, hardly rusted at all

Wow, nice find on the pipes !!!, you stole them.

Bike looks fantastic !!

 

Still needs some cosmetic stuff, but the engine is quiet no rattles or tappets

Clutch and gearbox much improved after oil change

Need a new rear tyre, going with a Conti- Motion, and I think I need a puncture or something fixed in the front

I have new decals for the seat tail unit, just waiting for it to warm up a bit

Still lots of cleaning to do

I have another set I got for $40, the front ends are rotted off, but my mate who is a genius TIG welder is putting some new ends on them

I have discovered what is causing the front tyre to deflate, whatever twonk fitted the front tyre, has managed to rip the rubber base of the valve, now going to have to see if I can replace that

Hi Waylander, this thread has been a joy to read. Would you care to share your windscreen polishing techniques? The bike looks amazing and that glossy screen makes a big difference.

The screen was a machine polish job

First job was a gentle clean with a smooth clay bar, to remove the lumps and bumps, then the glue removed with a scalpel blade

Then gently polished with a 3” orange hexlogic cutting pad, with megs 105, when I was happy that I had removed the worst, I finished it off with a white hexlogic pad and megs 205,

Managed to find a new old stock screen edging finished it nicely,

You can still see lots crazing in the plastic but that’s just age and can’t be fixed

now you have done it, I would replace it with a small height one - makes inflation & checking really easy... I can send you one or if you take the wheel off & bring it to me I can change it.. Im very close to Jct 4, M4

 

Ah it was a case of use what I could get at short notice

Funny thing is I bought it from a motorcycle shop, I can get the tyre pump on it easy without bending the valve

ok, its just I replace all mine for the low height & have plenty spare..

 

I think you have the TR414 - I have those for car wheels & the TR412 for my bikes.

 

I can change it again, I have a rear tyre to change as well so I will order some

just ck they are not the Mid height TR413... - they actually are a pretty good size too.. so perfectly usable on a bike.

 

So on to the next problem

Seems the damping adjustment on the rear shock is a wee bit stiffer than it should be, moves about 6-8mm thats ya lot

Now I’m not going to go buy a YSS or Hagon unit, I would like to try and fix the one on the bike

So I’m open to suggestions on how to go about fixing the adjuster, the cable is free moving
