Rear brake pads

Hey guys changed my brakes on my 95 750 vfr and got a rear brake chatter when going slow. After examining some more the brake pad almost seems to short and barley catches the end slot of the opposite of the pin. I have the clip in place. was I sent the wrong pads? Or is that just how the brakes fit this bike?

I look cool but I don’t wanna sound lame.

Also front and rear brake pads are the same size correct? None of my boxes were marked in the kit but all looked identical

it's important to clean discs really well when installing new pads, especially if the new pads are a different brand. brake clean spray, sandpaper, green scotchbrite.

also be sure the slider pins are well greased so caliper can move side-to-side a little.

sometimes it helps to use a round file to slightly enlarge and smooth out the holes to remove any burrs.

 

I don't know this for sure at all, but I doubt that the rear and the front brake pads would be the same. Far more braking power is needed on the front seeing as the weight transfers to the front when braking. Just like in a car I guess.

But please, someone in the know correct me if I am wrong.

 

How tight did your guys rear pads fit?

I revived 3 boxes of the same size. 2 sets on front 1 on rear

Looking at the Honda parts list:

Front pads set: 45105ML7405
Rear pads set: 43105MY7405

They are indeed different. Close, but different. If you only read the last 4 digits it would be easy to make that mistake.

When I took mine out and refitted them recently both rear and front were a close but smooth fit lengthways. Definitely no slop lengthways.

The USA and UK bikes have the same part numbers. Looks like they are likely to be universal parts for this model, not location-specific items. They are just not the same at both ends of the bike.

The comments by others above regarding installation advice are all good. But none of them will help you if one of those too-short pads drops down onto the hub and jams there.

I think you need to have a word with your supplier.

 

Honda typically has a thicker pad on the rear, but the fitment is the same...... thus two part numbers. Look up aftermarket, EBC for example and they say same pad front and rear.
Be sure to push the caliper slider fully one way and they should stay in the clip.

 

Rear are thicker... font are thinner.
