The manual says 29 N-m or 22 Ft. lbs. No need to exceed that.

My experience, using the Honda aluminum washer, anything over that will eventually squeeze out the aluminum until it starts wrapping around the head of the drain plug. I usually don't use a torque wrench, have trained myself that a certain amount of snug is good (you can feel the washer starting to squeeze)... check with torque wrench revealed that was 20-22 ft. lbs.

I don't use a torque wrench either, just a little bit past snug. Tight, but not OHMYGAWD tight.

Wish whoever fitted the oil filter followed this!
cant get it off its on too tight. filter wrench is crushing the filter rather than turning it !!

Same with a torque wrench on the filter... follow the filter manufacturer's instructions.... a bit of oil on the gasket, install until gasket contacts base, tighten another 1/2 turn. Much easier to get off next time.

Yup ....had to do that on mine .... while putting the screwdriver away I found the tool that fits on the end of the filter, the one that comes free with the Honda filter

This type works pretty well..... doesn't have to be a branded one.

Got one like this coming but have gotten impatient. Screwdriver eventually did the job. Thats the bike serviced, just chain to adjust, put tghe bodywork back on and then give it a clean.

For all the extras and 'improvements' we make to bikes, the most important things are to change the engine oil and filter regularly, keep tyres at the correct pressure and with good tread, and keep the chain cleaned lubed and tensioned properly.

Generally Honda factory manuals are excellent, but sometimes......
Sorry 19 ft-lbs on an oil filter and 22 ft-lbs on the drain plug is too frickn much!

I suppose we should mention that torques are usually specified "dry", and must be reduced significantly when "lubricated". I'll never understand why there's a torque spec on an oil filter.... none of the filter manufacturers specify that method of installation.
