Rat farts. Do you have the part number or model number that you can share? The PO had some horseshit exhaust on my new-to-me Interceptor and I want to replace it and am having some difficulty putting together the right pieces.

Boone... from what I can see in your thumbnail, WTF is up with that horseshit exhaust?

How much of the original system is left?

WTF indeed. There is nothing from the original exhaust left. Literally EVERYTHING ELSE is nearly perfect and original on this bike and it only has 14,141 miles on it. The PO bought it in 2012 and he lived in the middle of nowhere. He had some shop in the nearest town replace the exhaust and they had a hell of a time trying to figure it out. The mufflers are for an ATV - they even have spark arrestors so I guess I can feel safe doing some off-roading. It doesn't sound right or run right and I think the exhaust is part of that. Carb cleaning/rebuild and sync as well as valve adjustment this winter. And I would like to replace the exhaust with something more appropriate. Any chance of getting OEM used or NOS? Any suggestions for a proper or recommended after market would be appreciated.

If you can find a VF1000F or VF1000R stock headers/collector that isn't rusted thru, you can choose 2 appropriate mufflers of your choice and have some simple connecting pipes made to whatever position/angle you want.

The R and F are not identical. The R takes up more real estate (you would have to lose the center stand) and the outlets are at different angles. So if you found either collector and were trying to find some kind of period slip-ons, they need to be specific to the bike the exhaust came off of.

    VF1000F with 1000R collector and 1000R Yosh slip-ons.

If you can find a stock collector I may have a pair of yoshimura tips to fit the F...... The issue is the collector. They do come up on ebay occasionally.

I found a nearly complete system last fall and had it swapped out this winter. Still have the mufflers pictured but everything else is back to stock. I listed the parts I had removed on the forum and have them out there for anyone to have for the cost of shipping. The mufflers are in good shape and work great - it's all dialed in proper and running like a DREAM. But I would like some mufflers that look better than these beasts. Any suggestions?

Holy Frijole! Pricey is right. I think I'm going to stick with what I have. Just spent a pretty good chunk of $$$ getting this 36 year old bike all tuned up and freshened up. I'll keep watching the interwebs but in the meantime I'll just focus on putting in some miles. Thanks!
