 Well I realised today as I was riding home from a nice ride out into Connecticut that there are a lot fewer days left to do this than I really thought about as I dodged downed branches and piles of leaves on my favorite roads. Fall is a great time to ride and the scenes are great. I took some shots with my phone that I will post on this thread tomorrow. I figured we could have a spot to put some pics of our bikes in this last few rides before they get put into our living rooms:biggrin: for the cold season.

Gee, I thought the season is about over because I had to drain the cooling systems on two track bikes of water and water wetter and fill them with antifreeze coolant. The weather babes in my neck of the VFR World are predicting the season's first frost and hard freeze of the fall.

Hey A.E; Fall is probably my favorite time to ride, the cool air makes me feel
good and my bike really responds to the cooler air by making significantly more power. You mentioned
that the scenes are beautiful, but the scents are also really good.
Maybe my old off road riding experiences are showing, but you
can really smell the damp earth and leaves when riding on
country roads especially when woods are on both sides. With all
that good riding ,you know its but a few weeks until the weather
turns cold and ugly and the only place for your bike is its
perscribed winter holding pen. Then the dreams of modifications
and improvements are the only thing we can hold onto.

    End of season? No way.

That's what electric riding gear is for. Last year without it there was only a five week period (it rained or snowed the entire time) where I didn't ride at least one day of the week. Now with this gear I'm looking at about the same but more comfortably.

My heated vest will extend my riding season for sure. The vest will make a pretty good ride out of an otherwise freezing day.

Nice pics guys.... these were from yesterday. As long as the roads stay clear its not too bad with the right gear but even then its a different feeling around here at least. Its like you know you are pushing it and the tires take forever to heat up. Not many other bikes out.....

    pfffft:rolleyes
Only Ice on the road stops me(frozen lakes & studded tyres on mx bikes or SM bikes are fun though) in Utah, or I ride down & ride my old stomping grounds of Palomar Mtn, ACH, Mullholland, Big Bear/Arrowhead, ect, ect Commiefornia. Or just trailer my track/race bikes down to Willow Springs raceway, Ontario raceway, Buttonwillow raceway, or Laguna Seca raceway, Commiefornia .

You're right Eddie... It is one of the best times to ride.... Right before the winter when at least up here in my corner riding a bike is not good for you or the bike. Too much salt and sand on the road plus its just plain cold. Hopefully we can get some nice Fall shots of our bikes before they get put away. It'll give us something to look at when its too cold to ride.

P.S. I noticed you have a pic of a K1200R naked Beamer in your gallery. Have you ridden that bad boy? That is another bike I am considering...thanks.

I got a chance to ride one of the K's and an R1100s and R1200s. I like both series, it would be hard to decide which I like more because they are different in a lot of ways. The sound of the K even with the stock pipe is exotic in its own way and it has a little bit of power! Similar ergos to a VFR but heavier. If I had the extra $$$ I would own one. Probably the K1200S in the blue and white traditional BMW colors.

My bike stays active all year round here in N.C. Only Ice stops me. No fair weather rider here! Like this mornings 34 temp! No problem!

    RVFR,

That photo was so nice that I took the liberty of saving it to my hard drive. I hope that I didn't violate any coyright laws by doing so.

Here in Albuquerque, we can ride all year except for a few days when there may be snow or ice, but it usually melts within a few hours. You don't see cruiser riders riding during winter though; they are too soft.
