You guys got me wondering what looks out of place....if its the avitar the 86 is leaned over to left and 07 is front wheel to the right and drive is angled down slightly. If its original pic in single vs double , the rear wheel I changed out was an 18" wheel but was 5.5" wide and it is huge compared to the 17" wheel.

The swing arm I used was off a gen 5 , started with a gen 3 but that was a no go do to machine work required. There is a link to what was done in 4 .....and here it is again. http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/19487-single-vs-double.html

hey toe cutter, i have an 86 vfr 750, i know you have done the conversion (sssa) i think you sent me a message before based on a question i had, i lost it.
anyway, when you did the conversion what year vfr swing arm did you use, and could you possibly help me out with a grocery list of parts, i own a 98 vfr 800 and an 84 vf750f and i recently traded a 4 wheeler for my 86 vfr750. i have been waiting to own my own since i rode my first 87 vfr750 (maroon and white) in 1993 in oklahoma, but i like the 98 vfr single sided swingarm setup so much that i want it on my 86 vfr. any help would be greatly apreciated(my next purchase will be the 07 vfr 800, i just like the throw back colors in the 25th anniversary)
    andy

I used a gen 5 rear end and the grocery list is the gen 5 rear end, shock , making the links ,sprocket and the spacers for the bearings. Was not much to it really and I put it in the thread. On your own with the exhaust, just have to work oot what you have with the pipes. Where are you located and if your VERY serious I may be tricked into pullin it back apart and having the spacers/bushings copied. I am not the best with words but the link had all needed to do it.Link again

i am in the wilmington nc area, which is on the south east coast of nc. and i am very serious about this, how much did it cost for the spacers and bushings, i really like the idea of copying these parts, just let me know how much it will cost me, we live a nation apart, i am on the right coast and you are on the left. anyway if you could do this i would greatly appreciate it. by the way5th gen is 98-01 right, as i stated before i have a 98, thanks andy

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and wanted to refresh this subject a bit. I am interested in such conversion for my 87 RC24 and been looking everywhere for some kind of reference (pictures) with little to no luck. Any chance any of you has photos of the RC24 which was mentioned in this link?

    Thanks!

it would make a whole lotta sense to just buy a 3rd or 4th gen VFR rather than convert anything, better everything. ;)

squirrelman, definitely a valid point you have made here. I do agree that keeping things stock is a better way forward (obviously apart from the modern upgrades here and there), obviously, this depends on what's the end goal here. For me personally this is still a gimmick but a pretty cool one. The VFR I am refurbishing right now will more than likely to be kept in original shape but (ideally wound want to do a front-wheel conversion and SS exhaust system), future will tell how future is going to look like.
