Rebuilt carb but no joy

had carbs rebuilt by Billies in Texas ,reinstalled will not start. Good spark, fuel in floats, good batt. will bark if i use start fluid in carb intakes but will not continue to run. Reinstall seemed strait forward so if anyone has a clue what I missed I sure could use the help.

i think your fuel pump may need to be primed.

 

Couldn’t open your message, sorry. 66 yr old Vfr rider with same bike since it was practically new. Never had a reason to think about switching till now.

 

Sounds reasonable. Any hints on the process

 

but, pete my good man, he sez float bowls are fulla gas !? he could maybe use the famous jumper wire on the pump relay to assure pump is powered up.

 

Where is the relay. I think I need to jump or replace. No current to fuel pump.

 

location info in service manual, downloadable here. u never stated what year the bike is..........

 

95-found relay, jumped the pins and fuel pump runs and fuel makes it as far as splitter to the fuel rails, sadly after that still won’t start unless I put fuel directly in the stacks

 

some obstruction ?? try blowing (low pressure) compressed air into the carb fuel line after draining whatever fuel is inside.

 

Yep you are pulling the carbs off again

 

just needs access to fuel line into carbs, not to remove them, to try my suggestion above.

 

I'll put a beer on the jets are clogged.

Don't get me wrong I'd like this to be really easy to fix..

But have been there on one on my bikes - rebuilt the carbs - full strip down, synched, bike ran awesomely for 30 minutes !!!!!

Then had to do it again .. lol

pete, my good man, he paid lotsa quid for a professional rebuild, so jets gotta be clean, doncha think ?

i've offered to go through his carbs to find out what's wrong for a low, low price, but the responsibility is on the guy who got paid for the work, although i've heard he doesn't always answer his phone.

i never think an idle jet is clean unless i can pass a .010" wire through it easily, guarantee my work and charge way less than his guy.
