Oh the shame of it all Jim. And what is worse, you had to ask you wife for help. I don't know if I should amend your standing or purge you from our tally all together for that one!

Way to go man. Pix included. You have been promoted to a fiver. Congratulations. Hey! I just noticed the American flag has arrived under my avatar. Guess if you post from a different country than home, it auto fills the flag of that location.

Tuesday morning's (3AM) thunderstorm adds my name to the 'stupid' list. I had the bike parked in the front yard (where it looks really good, normally !) overnight and awoke to find that the 1.5 inches of rain had made mud under the non-puck supported sidestand. Yes, asked the wife to help, too. Not sure how much help she was, maybe just 'moral support'. Got a small crack above the left turn signal as a penalty. I want RC45 fairings anyway...……

C50, riding around the park when I was about 15. Too many drops to mention.
C90, slightly after passing my test, pulled up at the side of the road, somehow missed the floor with the kickstand.
CB250N, bloke pulled out on me at the very last second, ran the side of the bike down the front of his car, ended up on the floor. At least partially my fault, squid error, I saw he was looking the other way but wasn't defensive enough.
RD350. Dropped it "doing wheelies", like the twat I am. Twice. Hit a broken bottle in mid curve on the motorway, exploded the front tyre, front wheel caught and highsided me. I stopped just before the armco and survived relatively unscathed, the bike didn't. RIP RD350.
GPZ500. Got up in the morning to an inch of snow, though "fuck it, it'll be alright when I get to the main roads". Balding tyres and a T junction meant I didn't get to the main road. Lost the front at 2mph, smashed the left hand front indicator through the fairing. Picked the bike up, thought "the hell with that, I'll get the bus", turned the bike around and dropped it again. Smashed the right hand front indicator through the fairing. I did a cheap fix, which involved welding 2 little mounting lugs onto the fairing support to hold the indicators, and this led to the third drop for the poor GPZ. Someone parked proper close to me, and pushed the right hand indicator in a bit, bending the mounting lug. I rolled the bike out, steering full left, into gear, dumped the clutch , and found that the bent-in lug was jamming the forks in "go left" position. Down she goes! Again!
CB550. When the GPZ got killed by being run over by a Range Rover whilst parked, I was short of a bike for work. A mate of mine lent me his Ur[in]al sidecar rig, which I rode for 2 weeks, and then he went on holiday with it, so I borrowed someone else's CB550. Having ridden a sidecar for 2 weeks, I pulled up at the first set of lights, forgot to put my foot down, and fell gracefully to the floor.

    <touch wood> Haven't dropped a bike since then.

I make that 7 plus quite a lot.

Alright. I will take your word at 7. I was getting a headache trying to count. What was with your frined lending you his bike with your record? Or does he not know? Can you please send me a private message with your personal details. I want to buy a Life Insurance Policy on you. LOL. You have been added to the ranks of our elite with 7.

Question; do learner bikes and scooters count too? If so I can add a few more lol.

What is a learner bike? I learned on my VFR. I think I will nix scooters as I nixed pocket bikes at the beginning of this thing. More details on what a learner bike is, is needed though.

In some countries it is necessary to take riding lessons. The driving schools will lend you a 'learner bike', which is a bike that has a lot of protection (crashbars, protectors, etc.) that can be dropped without any damage to the bike. That's because in some countries it's prohibited to take lessons on your own motorcycle for some odd reason.

Interesting. Ya. OK. If one wants to write those up, I will add them. If you were a slow learner though, go easy on yourself. Last thing I wat to do is cause some poor soul to develop PTSD over this.

    I'm at 4 drops.
    1) First "drop" was my little 110 I had as a young seedling. I normally wouldn't count this as a drop but I crashed into probably the only dang tree in the whole field and wrecked that sucker bad. That wreck was what introduced me to the wonderful world of whiplash as a kid.

    2) Second was my 06 Shadow Spirit. Literally the day I bought it and drove it home, pulled over to add some insurance on it. Threw some money at Progressive, leaned right to get it off the kickstand and my right foot dropped of the road into soft sand and, " Timber, timber, I hope you're limber." Really didn't do any damage but break off my right side mirror. All I could do was laugh at how idiotic I felt and how I dropped my first street bike the very first day I got it.

    3) Third was my 08 FZ6N. I live in NM where the front yard is gravel, not grass. Backing out of my garage and into the slanted driveway, didn't realize I had hopped into the gravel with my back tire and it just slid ride out. Luckily I have frame sliders on it and it laid down gracefully and had no damage.

    4) Already posted this as a new member but I dropped my 05 VFR800 on basically the first ride(Is there a trend here?):D. Pulled over to change the clock so I wasn't late back for dinner so I didn't get reamed by the wife. It was downhill and in gravel(my worst enemy!:Fencing:). Should have been smarter. Messing with the clock and next thing I know my left foot wants to travel with some gravel and there I start rockin' n rollin'. Left side got some road rash and my clutch lever snapped in half and gave me a beautiful jingle as it *tink-ta-tink-tink*ed down the hill. Needless to say I made my mother proud with my next choice of words as I screamed towards the mountains as the desert laughed at me. Rode home in shame and here I am with the bike getting painted. Already looking around for frame sliders as I don't believe this will be my last drop.

Bonus round: Almost dropped it bad as I was trying to get it up on the center stand to check the oil. My FZ6's center stand has flat pieces that make it pretty stable. The VFR does not. Almost tipped it opposite the kickstand but summoned the power of Zeus and Barbara Streisand to pull it back up.

I just realized, I need to update. I bought a used BMWF800GS a couple months ago. My first venture out on the FSRs (Forrest Service Road) The beginning of the FSR was a very steep incline with several switch backs to get to the longer logging roads alone the mountains. This GS has a lot of torque and especially in first gear, it is kind of jumpy. O did not want the bike spinning out from under me on the loose gravel on this steep sharp corners so I was sunning it in second gear. I was on one particularly steep corner and the bike bogged down and stalled, and down it went. Bike stayed on the road and I tumbled into the ditch. No damage to the bike. Besides, the previous owner o this thing obviously road it the way it was built for. And me? Not even a sore limb from this spill.

So, it is an adventurous 12 spills for me. This one, the first on a bike other than my VFR.

that's awesome because I didn't count my little Honda Trail50 that I had. That I caught on fire. While I was riding it. That's when I jumped off and it went down. The plastic gas tube cracked and the gas combusted from heat on the engine. I was 10? at the time.
