Would you please point me to a graph of the Horsepower versus RPM for a 1986 VFR 700?
I've got the hard copy of the factory service manual, and it's not in there. Googling it hasn't given me the info, yet. Yes, I've seen calculated top speed in each gear, and rear wheel horsepower.

Let me check out my magazine collection for a stock graph. Cycle typically shows a chart (they did for the 86 VF500F).

But probably hard pressed to find one for a stock 700, everyone was testing the 750.

I would appreciate the vfr750's graph. My goal is to see the steps/bumps/burbles as RPM build.
My BMW K100 RT has an amazingly linear rise in power with RPM (thanks to Bosch jet-tronic fuel injection computer).
I'm trying to analyze the difference, not just based on what it seems like to me, how it feels.

Capt- IIRC, I'm pretty sure Cycle did a test of a blue VFR-700 in an '87 mag. Sold off all my old Moto rags a couple years ago or I'd check myself.

Edit- as I typed, it's March 1987 of Cycle.

OK. I'm on the last stretch of painting the house this weekend. I'll dig into the mags this week and look. I have a few, they are sorted and labeled.
I got them down out of the attic to start selling. Sold late 70s to early 80 Motorcycle Mechanics Fortnightly to start with last month. Fucking time consuming.

1986 VFR750F Cycle Test. June 1986. Didn't mean to take a fuzzy pic, but I like the suspense.

I'll take the mag to work tomorrow and get some good shots. HP and Torque to RPM.

I was fucking tired and my cocktails were kicking in. 10 more hours painting Saturday, 7 more Yesterday. Finished... what I'm doing this year. 6 weeks, evenings and weekends, to get 3 out of 8 sides of the house painted to completion (roller-back-brush - no spraying). It's a horseshoe rambler, so those were the biggest 3 sides. And that's not even counting the 3rd garage which I still need to side and trim out. Fuck me. Gonna work on some bikes now, and hopefully get some September rides in. The house does look amazing though.

Lookie-Lookie... VFR700F Test and Graph. Cycle Magazine, March 1987, like Lsc86 said.

    Right on Capt!

Wonder if they had Jay Gleason crack off the 10.95 on the '86? They definitely were not known as 1/4 mile bikes on the street back then. '86 boasting over 6 more HP @ 500 less rpm vs. the 700, fairly significant deficit. "As Tested" weight eye popping in today's terms too!

It sure did hurt cutting lose all my old rags, some unobtainium dealer catalogs in there too, but just got tired of tripping over them & moving them around and at this point rarely dug back into them. (was rewarding when I did though, case in point right here!). Anywho, some guy showed up in a 2-door econobox of some sort and they barely all fit in there. Let him have it all for $100 just to move it at once. Kept a small handful of favorite editions....
