    Hello fellow riders,

I acquired a used OEM pannier set for my 2006 VFR 800, but there are a few bits missing.
In particular the screws, spacers and collars for the sub-bracket which goes under the read fender
to hold the pannier mounts. The Honda part no is 08L41MCW800B Sub Bracket Kit and is not for sale anymore. I am also missing part-no:08L41MCW80012 (spacer, right) and 08L41MCW80013 (spacer, left). Anybody has an idea where to get those bits from ? Thanks.

I can't help you with the pannier brackets but with regards to the grab handle spacers, there was a member here or on vfrdisscussion that had 3d printed a new set and shared the file. Hope this points you in the right direction as an option. Mine are getting a little crumbly and I might have a set printed.

Jelorian is right, find the member who had 3d printed spacers made. It was on VFRD for sure, I can't recall the name but I *think* he used a company that user TriumphTraitor had worked for previously. It seems no one could find a way to buy these, but this was an option that actually worked and was done in the past year (maybe past 6 months) and I think the price was within reason

For the other pieces you are noting, just disregard. I bought mine used, didn't have any of that stuff... i have the brackets the bags attach to obviously, but missing the connecting pieces for the rear center. I ran the bike that way for 7 years, including many day trips in excess of 1000km with heavy weight in the bags...no issue. This past winter I finally grabbed a piece of steel and drilled a hole in each end to use that as a center support for the side brackets. I can't draw, so imagining "(" is a side bracket, I essentially did this: ( - ) with - being a straight piece of steel with a hole drilled in either end, bolted to the side brackets for support (to their existing holes where the center pieces you show above would attach). Black paint and bobs your uncle.

I don't have any connection point for my brackets to the license plate holder or rear tail of the bike. No issue for 8 years running... and I use my bags basically every time I ride

Hello, thanks for the replies. I did a acquire the 3D scanned files for 3D printing. I will upload the files here for anybody who is interested. Many thanks to "TriumphTraitor" and "Calculon" for creating them !

Currently I am shopping around for 3D printing companies who can print the parts for a reasonable price. The quotes I've got so far are *very* expensive ! A lot depends on the material used: if I use the right material - a UV stabilized, flexible Nylon resin - the parts come in in excess of $ 250.- ! Ouch. I have one guy who would make them in UV stabilized ABS for about $ 100.-, but the material has been described as not flexible at all and brittle. So I am not sure if this is the right stuff. Currently I have a friend of mine printing them in PLA on his home 3D printer... so I wait and see how the look like.

Here is the link to the original threat: https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/90929-desperate-to-find-old-part/

BTW: I have contacted both Honda Australia and my local Honda dealer and they have both been very disappointing. Neither of them even tried to help.

As for the mounts: I agree with you, rhoderage. I have mounted the stays temporarily just with with the grab rail bolts and the bolt which goes into the passenger foot-peg sub-frame and they seem plenty of solid to me. That license plate mount might not even be required... probably another over-engineering exercise from Honda.

Update: Sorry cant upload the files. They exceed the maximum file size the forum allows. But if you follow the link above you will find them there.

Hey, glad to see someone using the 3D files. I’m Calculon on VFRD and had those files made and printed with the help of TriumphTraitor. You’re right, it’s not cheap but it was cheaper than a new set of cases. I paid $300 for the scans and prints and the material has held up so far. In regards to the brackets, check out behind the fender on your VFR, I have an 07 and that bracket was already part of my bike. My second hand set was also incomplete but a few runs to the hardware store and I found compatible screws but were missing some spacers.

Hey Zapp / Calculon. Again, many thanks for the 3D scans. Lifesaver. I got my luggage set from a second hand 2002 VFR, but it also had the top box installed, hence it didn't had the spacers. Considering the 6th gen only went out of production in 2012 its a bit disappointing that Honda can't cough up these spare parts anymore.
I am a bit shocked that companies charge that much for those prints. I am tempted to buy myself a 3D printer (cheap one is about $ 200) just for that . When the material crumbles i can just print myself a new set :)
Yes, my 06 has that metal bracket already installed. It just needs the metal plate which goes behind the license plate. I have all those bits and actually will install them today.

And it is done ! The license plate arrangement is a bit different than on yours. I didn't had the removable spacer etc. All I had to do was take the license plate holder off, insert the metal plate and put it back on... although its tricky to get to the hex screws which hold it on if you don't know how :) Really nice of Honda to have the metal bracket already installed under the fender. Saved heaps of work.

I had a few alignment issues. I think the left stay is slightly bent. The luggage set comes from a 2002 with 133.000 km's on it .. so it has been used for a while. At some stage the donor bike got dropped which must have bent the stay. But I was able to bent it back and secure all bolts and torqued to spec.

I will have the panniers paint to bike color at a local shop soon. The missing grab rail spacers are not all that obvious when you don't know what to look for. Curious to see how those PLA printed ones come out .. I might be just happy with that.

And here she is .. 2006 model with 16.300 kms on it:

Very nice. I have no idea how you got the brackets to fit without the spacers for the handrails. Nice to get the luggage on the bike.

Wasn't a problem, really. The stays sit flush against the frame. I was even considering for a while to not install the grab rails at all and just bold down the stays. Not taking a passenger anyways. But the finish doesn't look nice .. it needs some kind of cover. So the grab rails on top look nicer. I will post some pics when I have the 3D printed spacers.

Next: Set of Staintune Exhausts and Heli-Bars. Also from the same donor bike :)
