Has anyone ever arrived at their destination minus a case?

    This happened to me today.

I had a top box come off my old Suzuki years ago. Went over a big jarring bump and luckily saw it bouncing down the road behind me. Was able to safely retrieve it and put it back on. Always had good luck with the VFR though.
Any chance you were able to go back and look for it?

No chance whatsoever. I had stopped just east of Sault Ste Marie put on rain gear which was in the case. I'm sure that in my haste to get my gear on and stop being splashed by the highway traffic I didn't lock it properly.

I stopped about 200 or so kilometers later in Wawa to fuel up. Coincidentally there was a colleague of mine at another gas pump and I was distracted by going over to talk to him as I had not seen him since the Covid outbreak. I was so distracted by chatting with him I cannot say for sure if the case was on then or not.

I stopped again for fuel in Chapleau and noticed it gone then. So do you either fell off between there and Wawa or there and Sault Ste Marie. The best I could do was get the word out on Facebook and Twitter and so far nothing. Live and learn.

Does it have to be an OEM bag to fit on the OEM rack or do the Givi PLX series work?

Hmmm, I'm a bit paranoid about that happening. I (alsmost) always give them a tug to check its latched but I still think in the back of my mind ...what if....

Thinking about Boush's plight I might just put a sticker on each case with my name and contact info. If it ever happens that will hopefully make it easier for the case to find its way home.

It sucks to lose a bag, I feel your pain. I had a similar experience on my FJR, had just put a new painted lid on the bag, forgot to lock it on before I went for a ride, can't really see them in your mirrors. I was lucky, only had to backtrack a few miles to find it, road rashed. You feel like an idiot for that teeny mistake. I hope it turns up, I'd rather have it in any condition than not have it at all.
Same or very similar bags are on my Honda CBF, same mount scheme, likely same dimensions but slightly different lids. Other years may fit. I have no idea if Givi V35's or 37's will fit the Honda rack... kinda doubt it, but rack plus those new bags might be the least cost alternative.

That's actually a really good idea, I'm going to do that. I think I will put it on the bike side of the case so it can't be seen when attached.
I have a label printer here at work that does weatherproof stickers.....

That is a really good idea. At first I was thinking inside, but if the case is locked then that defeats the purpose. I will do the same with mine. Need to make sure my labels are weather proof as well as heat resistant.

OP, sorry to hear you lost your stuff.

I'm going to see if I can pick up a used case and what I will do is engrave my details on the heat shield. I doubt that will happen to me again. I put those bags on and off a million times and it just happened that time I was in the rain and felt rushed...

Boosh, It might be worth a call to the OPP. There is a chance they may come across it or someone might tell them they found it??

I've called a friend. His friend is an OPP officer from South Porcupine (Timmins). I'll see if he has any thoughts.

Hopefully just your name and phone number. Even that could be traced to your home. If you are out and about and someone finds you bag, and now has you address, you may arrive home to find you have been ripped off. It is for this reason I take my insurance papers and delete the address from the original document, using computer programs, and keeping the original document safe at home. and carrying the edited document in your vehicle. Of course check to see if that is allowed in your province/state.

Does anyone know if Givi V35 or Kappa K33N mount to the OEM rack on a 6th Gen?

    Short answer = No.
Whilst givi make the OEM Honda panniers and top boxes, they use a different mounting system for their own side cases.

I thought you had a black 6th gen? Looking forward to getting that side case. My panniers has come in for my GS so I'm excited about that. Canada post will deliver your right side pannier to me in about three weeks or so but that is the cheapest mode of delivery and I will let you know when I have received them.

I bought the bike with the black cases and it doesn't look bad that way. Black cases would probably look all right on any bike. But I lucked out and got a silver pair.
