Oh, what's this......WHAT'S THIS?? A copy of the HRC radiator but uses the stock rad's top mounts. I am sick and tired of rebuilding this engine. This is a full on race bike. The front cyls run hotter than the rear's. So intake valves mushroom their heads, then throw their keepers so valve drops to meet piston......at 10,000 rpm!! It has done this 3 times in 2 years. Front cyls every time. Enough! Now have oversized nitrided stainless valves and this rad. Yeah, I know, not done, needs lower cross tube. Will final fit when engine installed. Hope to test early augest. If successful I will offer rads at a group buy with options; dual input no thermo coupler, single input using coupler, with or without temp bung. Price should fall in around $1150 CAD, or 825 USD. Start pondering now, will report when testing done. Yes, payment will be up front.

Very nice work. Did you go off pictures or have access to an actual set of rads?

I had a pile of pics to go from then a nice man, Dan Thornton, stepped up with multi angle photo's and all the measurements. He has a HRC kit rad so he broke out the tape measure, vernier, ruler, and supplied the numbers.

How wild, I just met him out at Road America in June and got his business card since he had a whole bunch of VFR and other miscellaneous bike parts for sale. We've been exchanging emails, and you just reminded me I needed to thank him for something. Super nice guy.

    Oh, and nice radiator!

you know the popular definition of insanity ?

most tuners think the problem isn't heat but weak valve springs that allow valve float at higher rpm's, with pistons meeting valves. how do you rebuild an engine when you can no longer get new rod or main bearings or most other parts ? :(

have not torn apart a V4 race bike since about 1990, but hearing the front cyls run hotter, sure doesn't jive with my memory bank. But hey, that was 30 years ago. I'd imagine collecting and scavenging NOS, used, etc. is the only way to keep it on the track. Heck we used to weld up holes in OMC pistons and machine them "smooth" to keep customers on the water with their ancient outboards, so ANYTHING is possible in my experience.
