I'd have to think about that. It was given to me in confidence by a friend of my Dad's.

The catalog only lists a number for the swing arm assembly 52000-NF1-820 but I can confirm it looks like the photos shown above.
There is no part number for just the bare swing arm. They call it a rear fork......go figure.
    There aren't any dimensions either.

I tried searching it thinking it might be a part from another Honda model but didn't find anything.

Jewel Hendricks Superbike Preparation book has some photos of Wayne Rainey's VFR superbike. It looks like the swing arm flares out alot more than the stock unit but it is hard to tell.

I'm going with a 5.5" wide rim on my project bike so I will be interested to see if I have to rework the swing arm. I think I measured it before and it will fit but it will be snug.

You'll be able to fit a 5.5 no problem. I was able to fit 5.5 on a VF1000F and a VF1000R that have a lot less room. But I did purposely choose 170/60-17 for the profile.

If you are looking to run a 180/55 go with a Pirelli tire, they run closest to nominal width. Avon (and some Dunlops) runs pretty much a size up on width in my experience, and you could get close on chain clearance.

Thanks, Just read your VF1000 wheels thread. Nice!

Post some pics of your project as it progresses. I'm going to see if my (Dad's) Honda contacts are still around. I'll see if they remember any details about the swing arms. From what I remember some bikes did run stock swing arms.

Wasn't it Art Robbins that ran a bone stock VFR750 out of the box and placed pretty respectably at a Supperbike race? That was what really impressed me about the VFR.

Original Dunlop SportMax GPs ran very wide, very square profile. The 180 measured almost 190mm, freakin' steam roller profile too. Great for street race bikes, especially on 4.5" rims!

Is anything from 1986 secret worthy still!?!??! (not trying to get you into trouble with your dad)
