I'm trying to troubleshoot my 6th Gen VFR and curious if anyone has ideas on what could cause it to have this behavior. Also, if someone could help, where are the three 38501-GN2-014 relays so I can try swapping headlight for fuel cut off?

My VFR will either not start, or will catch and die immediately (seems like no fuel). Here's the weird part though - if I get it to catch and turn over, I can rev the engine to 4k+ and it'll settle into an idle afterwards. No issues running after that. I'm wondering if it's just a failing relay, and if the vibration or extra volts from revving are just giving the relay that little extra power it needs to click open?

Whats the voltages when you start?
Could be as simple as a dying battery..

I am also trying to help a friend with the relay issue.... is there any aftermarket replacement equivalent relay for a Gen6?

I've a Moto Guzzi that had a similar issue, that I've just solved. I discovered that one of the fuses that feed the injector relays had cracked (..not blown) and was passing current intermittently. The fuse looked perfectly OK to the naked eye, and even showed a resistance value on my multimeter. I'm guessing vibration not only led to the fuse cracking in the first place, but also caused the unusual start/stop symptoms of the engine. It's a long-shot, but it may be worth checking yours for any similar intermittent live to the relays/injectors (..ie. not just the fuses).

Per the service manual (Fuel System, 5-56).... It would appear on Gen6 you have to remove the front cowl... fuel relays... one in front of ECU and one in front of the ABS module.... can't get to it without removing plastic...... are those same as the headlight relays up behind the instrument cluster?

There are no fuses except in fuse box up front right and main fuse by battery.
