Have you tried rebuilding it? Don’t know if they are similar, but I easily took my 83 pump apart and cleaned contacts.

It runs fine, suspect the output is weak.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

Have you changed the fuel filter?
Its possible that your filter is at end of life and loaded up so it is creating a big pressure drop.

The filter is inside the tank so it is not the most fun to change but there are videos on line showing how. The filters pricey too but it only needs to be changed after alot of miles or if you've had an abnormal amount of dirt, debris or corrosion in the fuel.

You may have done all this but thought I would mention in case.

What makes you think the fuel pump is weak?

I ask because it or a plugged filter is on my diagnosis list for sluggish acceleration on my bike. Bike idles smoothly, will run to redline but does not have the "snap" it should. It runs smoothly under light acceleration. I wasn't sure if it was just my impression but I confirmed it on Saturday when my buddy and I swapped bikes for a bit.

I'm part way through my list to check out but yesterday I think I might have found the cause. One of my spark plug wires (#4) secondary (HV) resistance was 180 Kohm. All the rest were 18 to 20 Kohms. I took it apart, cleaned and checked it. The cap has very high resistance (20 Kohm) without the resistor. The resistor (5 Kohm) was ok. The best I can get on that side is 40 KOhm, so still not normal.

I think this was making #4 cylinder weak under aggressive throttle. I have ordered a new cap and will test the bike after I complete compression testing tonight but until I get the new plug cap it remains suspect.
